Great link Daniella. It sounds like "hen and chicks" is a common name applied to several members of the crassula family. The echeverias tolerate less cold and wet weather than the sempervivum (one of the most widely known "hen and chicks"). I collected a few echeverias in TX and AZ last year & brought them indoors so they'd survive my wet winter. The site you linked points out that echeverias DO produce "chicks", but not as freely as the sempervivums. Another difference is that a sempervivum "hen" will elongate into a bloom spike, then die. An echeveria does not die after blooming. Also, some echeveria plants grow relatively large compared to the sempervivums. They have quite an architectural quality. Patrick

Lol, I will stop coloring too when it all gets one color. I just have this big black patch in the back. They found something on the cat scan last night they need to do an MRI and get a closer look at it near the pituitary gland in his brain. I have been so worried I am exhausted. I couldn't even tell what I was trying to say in that last post. He is still very tired too. I hope we can still go this weekend but waiting to hear from the doctor if its ok or not and see how we are both feeling. He is in denial of course and outside working in the heat so I am watching him close and making him come in for breaks and drink water. I think he had heat exhaustion He passed out and had a siezure. Sure wish the ER doctor had told me more before she ran off and left. My sister's daughter in Georgia just had a baby and they had to remove her gallbladder this morning so she might be able to come either. Whats that song about if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all? Lol, things will get better. Just soooo tired.

Karyn, Ok, I've spoken to Jill & Jordan - we have agreed unanimously to obtain a moving truck and head down ASAP. In return for leasing us, lets say 1/8th of the large GH (Just a small corner)-(1875 sq. ft) we will in turn...Heat the GH in the winter months out of our own pockets...we are currently paying approx. $10,000 a year for rent, so...seems to me this is a win win situation!!! BTW, my professional background is with animals...I've worked 25+ years in pet-stores, zoo's, and with Veterinarians. My last position was at an Animal Hospital as a Senior Veterinary Technician responsible for 10+ assistants at a Board Certified Gastroenterologist Veterinary Hospital w/ 24 hour emergency services for over 10 years...Hard worker, during this time I worked 90 - 120 hours a week, NO VACATIONS, on call 24/7. BTW, My clients had asked for me for three years after I left this position (Everybody just adores me...can't help but to fall in love with my cute, humorous, and jolly self) So Karyn, as you can see mixed families can work out perfectly...you get your heated greenhouse back (70 - 80 degrees during winter) and My family and I get a wonderful new unusual living arrangement. (We do require running water and plumbing for indoor - shower,toilet, and we have to have Top of the line stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, gas stove-(I love to cook, gourmet) and finally, I require a bidet). Currently I am enrolled in Nursing School, so I'd have to enroll in your locale, however, I'm in the top 5% of my class...GPA 3.97, so this shouldn't be a difficult task in my opinion!!! Let me know what you think....and anyone who is behind me on this idea should plz. chime in with your comments and/or suggestions....!!!! On my time-off we could open our own little business - we could call ourselves - "SCOTT & KARYNs' Greenhouse - Buds & Studs"....what do you think....??? ROTFLMMFAO!!!!!
