Pics 3 & 5 are Salvia buchanesis and Thunbergia grandiflora. Barb you probably got that MG from me. It's one of the Hige varieties, a long name that begins with "M". I can look it up if you'd like. Scott that's one of my little greenhouses, a 10' x 12'. I have another 7' x 14' in the backyard and 2 large ones at the farm. One is 200' x 75' and the other is about a quarter that size. The 10 x 12 is the only one I keep really warm over the winter. It's too expensive to heat the big greenhouse above 65 F over the winter so we keep that one just above freezing. Thanks for the ID. I wonder where the seeds came from?

I just did the math - your large greenhouse is exactly 18.75X the area of my current three bedroom apartment!!! LMAO, rosepedal...when your done with your stay - let me know cuz I just informed Jordan and I will be calling Jill momentarily to inform her that I just found a new living arrangement for us....I've got a few plants, three people, an 18 year old Parsons Jack Russel Terrier - Wendy, she is fixed...and very well behaved... gotta take her with me...Jordan would love a kitty!!! So, Karyn do we have a deal or what...??? I've got the phone in my hand right now ready to dial U-haul......LMAO!!!!!

I almost fainted when I saw that the Cats have not eaten ALL the vines yet and that on one it actually looks like a bud is forming...yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Feel bad for your vines in the GH...looks like my vines that have to grow in to much shade. the do not get to develop their full potential.

Scott it's 4x the sq footage of my house. I'd love a 15,000 sq ft home. I could hide from everyone. lol With the GH comes my 15 & 4 yr old sons, 12 yr old DD and not only do you get cats but a dog, lizards, frogs, hamsters, chinchillas, rabbits, sugar gliders, a bird and fish. You want 'em, you got 'em. lol Seriously it was great when we used to heat the big GH to 60-70 F over the winter. I never ran out of space but it got too expensive. We use propane for the big GH and the last winter we heated it warm enough for my plants was 3 or 4 years ago and the propane ran $8000. Too much for a hobby, according to DH : ) He figures with fuel prices now it would be around $12K. Just running an electric heater in the 10 x 12 GH is expensive but I don't have any other options if I want to keep the plants alive. Lucy #3 is the salvia Daniella asked the name of "buchanesis".

Nice Passion flowers Karyn. I tried some Alata seeds, I bought at the local nursery, and fungus gnats (I think, little transparent maggots) ate them up. I was ticked. Spent 2 months babying them things. The morning glories are nice also, especially that first one. What is the red misc. flower? I liked that one alot

Lucy look at this link under Buchanans Sage. They list it as S. buchananii but the nursery I bought it from tagged it Buchanesis. 6 of 1 half dozen of another. lol It supposedly can't be propagated by seed and the seed that is occasionally produced is sterile. This one has set a few seeds so I might just try planting them to see what happens. Million Bells isn't supposed to set viable seed either but I've grown an interesting plant from Million Bells seeds. It didn't look like Million Bells but was pretty.

I grew it last year but it looked very much like a Wave Petunia, even though Million Bells isn't a petunia. I guess it also looked like a MB but the foliage and especially the flowers were much bigger. It also wasn't as floriferous.

Ok, I've spoken to Jill & Jordan - we have agreed unanimously to obtain a moving truck and head down ASAP. In return for leasing us, lets say 1/8th of the large GH (Just a small corner)-(1875 sq. ft) we will in turn...Heat the GH in the winter months out of our own pockets...we are currently paying approx. $10,000 a year for rent, so...seems to me this is a win win situation!!! BTW, my professional background is with animals...I've worked 25+ years in pet-stores, zoo's, and with Veterinarians. My last position was at an Animal Hospital as a Senior Veterinary Technician responsible for 10+ assistants at a Board Certified Gastroenterologist Veterinary Hospital w/ 24 hour emergency services for over 10 years...Hard worker, during this time I worked 90 - 120 hours a week, NO VACATIONS, on call 24/7. BTW, My clients had asked for me for three years after I left this position (Everybody just adores me...can't help but to fall in love with my cute, humorous, and jolly self)
So Karyn, as you can see mixed families can work out perfectly...you get your heated greenhouse back (70 - 80 degrees during winter) and My family and I get a wonderful new unusual living arrangement. (We do require running water and plumbing for indoor - shower,toilet, and we have to have Top of the line stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, gas stove-(I love to cook, gourmet) and finally, I require a bidet).
Currently I am enrolled in Nursing School, so I'd have to enroll in your locale, however, I'm in the top 5% of my class...GPA 3.97, so this shouldn't be a difficult task in my opinion!!!
Let me know what you think....and anyone who is behind me on this idea should plz. chime in with your comments and/or suggestions....!!!!
On my time-off we could open our own little business - we could call ourselves - "SCOTT & KARYNs' Greenhouse - Buds & Studs"....what do you think....???

It almost sounds perfect but I can't move my appliances to the GH. Besides that I love my Bosch stuff and don't want to give them up. Too bad I only have 5 BR's. Maybe I could get rid of a kid or two. lol

Funny how most of us plant nuts are also animal lovers and in the medical field. By profession I'm an orthopedic PA but I decided to stop working in 2000 and allowed my licenses to expire. There's several schools with nursing programs here, 2 yr AA/RN and 4 yr BS/RN as well as nurse practitioner and anesthetist programs.

BTW 10K might cover 4 months of rent for a 3 br apartment around here so you couldn't leave the GH. lol

You don't know how much I'd love to be able to heat the big GH again. I'm so tight for space now and can't stand it. I complain every winter and say that I'm going to cut back on the number of plants that I keep but somehow end up with more!

Looking at all your flowering beauties and reading your stories, I want to move somewhere else, where there's a garden and a greenhouse and lots of green and flowers.

Of course I'm kidding. I couldn't do the work any more.
In fact I just had to get a walk-in bathtub to make my life easier. But this forum is pure joy for me!

Way Way Way off topic - But, I urgently have to ask!!! I didn't realize you had been an Ortho PA. I broke my right calcaneus and talus bones a year ago in May, still having issues - I actually and truthful have an appt. scheduled w/ PC (August 19th at 6pm)to discuss amputation!!! Ortho, claims heeled, however, pain is unbearable on a daily basis. I used to take handfuls of Dilaudid 8mg...but fear of addiction became overwhelming...!!!
I know - I know...you don't know me nor have you ever seen my med history or xrays, CT, MRI - so you can't comment. But suggestions are always graciously accepted...!!!!

P.S. Sorry for hijacking this thread - will never happen again!!!!

I hate to say but you'll never be asymptomatic after a calcaneal Fx. If it had just been the talus that would have been a different story. Did you have an ORIF? How did you do it to begin with? Did you jump? Now saying that your gait can never be perfectly normal and you will have some residual problems after a calcaneal Fx is a far cry from amputation. Have you seen a LE specialist? The best guy on the East Coast is Mark Myerson in Baltimore. Not the best bedside manner but he's good. What about an anesthesiologist specializing in pain management?

Why is everyone so worried about addiction to pain meds? BFD! I refuse to have anymore surgery and have been taking heavy doses of narcotics since 2000. Better that then yet another surgery that will be minimally successful. If you are on statins are you worried about an addiction to them? I take a Fentanyl patch 100 mg, dilaudid 8 mg, MSIR 60 mg, percocet 10/325, NSAIDs and the occasional dose of steroids. I could care less if I am addicted. It's keeping me out of the OR. I'm perfectly functional. Narcotics don't have the same affect on a person dealing with pain as they do on someone taking it to get high.
