I like Haworthias,too!

He is cute baby, and looks like he is doing very well. I love Haworthia. Remove the flower stalk, she can't do both well. If she is offsetting she will need all the energy raising the kids and not nurishing seeds.(new babies) Haworthia are winter growers. Don't water when it is really hot. Norma

It never dawned on me that Haworthias were winter growers & I've got abt 6 of 'em. Thanks for pointing that out, don't know why I never realized it! I'll have to observe them more closely this year as we go into winter.

Yes, mine don't put on hardly any new growth in summer and don't look their best until mid-winter. I still get flowers in the summer like Fluffy (cute name...), but winter is when they really shine. J, I agree with Norma about removing the flowers. They're not much to get excited about anyway, but I know that's hard to do the first time you get them. Once you've seen them a few times, then they just get to be a little annoying because they're so sloppy looking. (Try having a couple dozen all blooming at the same time, all those long flower spikes hanging everywhere!)

BTW, chances are what you have there isn't fasciata but is more likely attenuata as fasciata isn't as widely collected as attenuata. The difference is that attenuata has the tubercles on all surfaces of the leaves whereas fasciatas leaf tops are relatively smooth. I have a few different clones of attenuata - here's one...

While I've read about Haws being "winter growers", I don't encourage them in the winter. Those of us with cold winter months tend to get some etiolation if we try encourage growth in the middle of winter. I find that spring and fall are the best growth periods for my Haworthia, and keep them dry in the hottest and coldest months of the year.

By "winter growers", this means winter in the desert, such as it may be. In other words, Haworthias will try to grow when temperatures are in the 60s or 70s, but are not so happy when it is 110.

By the way, the flowers are white and pretty small and not much to look at. I doubt it makes a huge different whether you let them run their course or not.
