Can anyone help me ID what is going on?

Does anyone have any idea what I have going on here? This is one clematis, I have no idea what kind, I planted this last summer. It grew last year about 3 feet and seemed to die. I wasn't sure that it would come back this year. I now have 2 totally different flowers. Does this happen at the nurserey? Does anone know what I have here? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Many clematis of that color fade badly in the sun. Are you sure that's not what happened here?

Thanks bob414 I don't think so, but maybe...The lighter pink flowers came out that color, they have a tan fuzzy middle, while the deeper color clem has a purple tipped middle..can you see that there are two different types of leaves? I never noticed that until I saw this picture posted, it is almost dark now but I will be out there in the morning.

It looks like the readily available Cycas revoluta (a terrific species by the way!). Inside the house over the winter, keep it as cool as possible. They can be inclined to developing mealy bugs or scale over the course of the winter. I grow mine outside from about March to December then they go into a sunny garage--they have gotten too big for the house. Don't expect it to grow at all until next Spring or Summer. I would wait until March or April to transplant. I use pretty much an average soil mix to which I add a very generous amount of course sand and perlite (soil must have excellent drainage. Good luck!

Echeveria, unsure of cultivar though. Maybe someone with a better eye will pop along to offer additional help. I think the flowers are used to identify, if I remember correctly, so you're in luck!!!

I saw that there were different shaped leaves, but there are also flower buds there that are not clematis, more like some kind of bean blossoms. It would be hard for the stamens to fade that much and since the blooms were different from the start it may be two clematis but young clematis often have blooms different from the ones they will have when they mature.

Thanks bob414 I guess I will have to wait until the fall, I don't know what those other flower buds are, never had anything else planted there and I have lived here 23 years-I did notice them but I though they were the clem's new shoots. This is all so new to me, I have 4 different clematis, and I didn't know a thing about them until I found this board.

Could have possibly had a seedling come up at the base of your established plant?

I believe I see three different plants in that picture.

Two Clems and a weed.

Twilight does open and look just like the one on the right and it does fade to solid lavender but it doesn't change shape or change stamen colors.

here is one i posted last year of Carnaby...the first bloom was so much different than the ones that followed...unfortunately, it is a no show this year

Wow-maybe that is what is happening here. Being new to this, I thought I had something going on. There are some buds waiting to open we will see what I get, I have about 4 of the darker clems that opened after I took the picture, there were 3-4 of the lighter ones before that. Thanks for your response!

I think you have two clematis and a weed, maybe a hellacious morning glory or a bean, something else going on. You probably had a seedling come up and a bird dropped some weed seed in with it.

Well you think thats funny - I have what looks like Mrs C. and Romanitaka on the same plant. I bought the plant this year in the large pot, and it had 2 long stems on it. I planted it up in my planter and I got 2 totally different flowers on each stem. So maybe somehow I got 2 plants for the price of one - lol.

Sometimes the first flowers can be different as the Carnaby example shows but the basic shape of the flower and the stamen color isn't different as the OP's plants are.
