Now List those Sugarplums please!

I'd love to know the plants you have decided to purchase for 2006. Unfortunatley, I'm sure I will come to want some of your favorites as well, but that's what a vice is all about, right? I know we're all surfing and catalog hunting like crazy. Isn't January hard?

Here's my list so far:

Actaea (dolls' eyes,baneberry)

Cotinus (smokebush)

Pinus stroba 'Contorta' (that cool pine with the spiraled corkscrew needles that used to grow at Raulston before they started "renovating")

Viburnum propinquum (Evergreen Viburnum)

Cryptomeria 'Black Dragon'

Salvia 'Red Neck Girl'

Solomon's Seals - the fancy kinds

Viola koreanum (has leaves that look like cyclamen, has anyone grown it here?)

My short list so far reads:
Baptisia 'Wayne's World'
Triliums - probably basic white
Zinnia 'Zowie' whatever they call it
Ferns - nothing special or new, just more of what has survived my torture so far
Rhodea - all of mine are growing fine so I may splurge and buy a pricey white edged form
Blettila orchids - not sure which color, possibly all
Syringa oblata if I can find one - any color

Begonias and Violets depend on what survived this winter - but as they are my weakness, possibly all that I see for sale anywhere....

Hmm, now that I've seen some of the new catalogs... PD is offering a "deliciously fragrant" white coneflower. Sounds intriguing. And the Select Seeds catalog reminded that I always wanted to try sweet violets.

I am brand new here but I would be interested in any hostas, day lily, iris, bearded iris or lilies please :) I will have mimosa tree seeds, white rose of Sharon seeds and redbud tree seeds to trade when they are ready this year. Please let me know what is needed, thank you and can't wait to trade!

Karen Hause, have you seen the flowers of this sedum? If so what color are they? We don't have a fully authoritative answer but have some strong leads regarding its identity. We'll write more about this, but the flower color would provide additional clarification. Incidentally, side-by-side comparison makes us more convinced that your blue sedum is S. hispanicum not 'Blue Spruce'. We'll write more about this, too.

Am so excited to have drupes on the new Edgeworthia papyrifera that I got this spring. If I can catch them at the right stage of ripe and then get them to germinate ~a year from now, it will probably only be another decade before flowering. So why am I so excited? I don't know but have decided to just enjoy the moment.
