Sunburn is usually not fatal unless the growing point is destroyed. Those damaged leaves will be replaced in time. More worrying is your soil, it looks very peaty and wet.

I'd just watered them and thought I should take a picture and ask the experts for advice and hopefully a ray of hope. I literally watered it and seconds later took the pic. Did I add too much water? I purchased the cactus mix recommended to me by Armstrong Garden Centers; this is where I purchased a few succulents. I figured they would be more knowledgeable than Home Depot, Lowe's or Osh.

Contains Fir Bark, Lava Rock, Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, Sand, Redwood Compost and Mushroom Compost.

I dunno about the mushroom compost, and number three is peat moss, a very undesirable component. Fir bark and lava rock are good, sand, not so much. Almost all commercial cactus and succulent mixes contain too much peat. They can be used as the inorganic portion of the mix that should be at least 75% pumice, lava rock, perlite, gravel, etc. Mix that mix with perlite 3 to 1 and you'll be good to go.

Thx for the info Brad. Pretty interesting, I'd read from various sources that perlite was good to use. Like I said, I went to them thinking they would be more informed about garden stuff...I guess not. I specifically asked about perlite and was told, "no way, do not use that stuff...it holds the moisture in the soil." I found that really odd because I recall my research and the bag of perlite specifically stating improves drainage and aeration. I did add it but not to the ratio you indicated. I figured this bag of cactus mix was better than the miracle grow stuff that home depot and lowes carries. Would it be a good thing or a bad thing to repot the plants and mix in more perlite into the soil?

It would be MUCH better to repot them with perlite in the soil. I bought cactus mix thinking the same thing as you, Chicagardens. After buying it I was informed that it actually has a lot of stuff in it that will retain too much moisture for cacti/succulents to thrive.

To quote paracelsus, " Mix that mix with perlite 3 to 1 and you'll be good to go." From everything I've read on the forums, that is spot-on. 75% perlite will provide excellent drainage for your plants as long as there is a hole in the bottom of the pot

With everything that Brad just taught you, you already know more than that garden center, Good luck and keep us updated.

When I first started with succulents, I mixed whatever soil I had around 1:3 with perelite and the problem I have is that the perelite floats. I've been trying to weigh it down by covering it up, but it seems to work its way to the surface and generally get all over the place. So far just watering it very slowly is about the only thing that keeps the stuff in the pot!

They look like an Aeonium arborescens of some sort. Keep in mind at this time of year, Aeoniums are just coming out of summer dormancy here in so cal, so you can start watering them, but don't overdo it. Their root systems are small. Even a 2 or 3' plant will have a very small root system.

The EB stone stuff is fine for Aeoniums, but adding some pumice or perlite if you can't find pumice won't hurt.

Overwatering and frost will kill them, otherwise they are fairly vigorous here. I started with one, now I have a hundred of them.

hoovb- thx for the hope. I assume that when they get healthier they will have babies? maybe? i hope! :)

pennyhal - thx for the tip, I think I need to invest in a different watering can. I have one with a single spout...probably need one with multiple holes.
