Help! Earwigs eating my clematis

LauraOP

This is the second year earwigs are eating my clems. Now you all know on this forum how we wait for our clems to break ground & put out all those beautiful blooms. No plants in my yard get the amount of time & care I give to my beloved clems. This is the 2nd year I have Belle of Woking in my yard. I have yet to see blooms. It started out this year looking nice and healthy climbing the trellis. Then they started getting attacked by the e.w.'s.

They chew them @ the new growth and then my plant seems to give up putting out new growth. By the way I know it's the E.W's because I went out @ night with flashlight, and caught them chewing.

I have put diatomacous earth (not sure of spelling) @ the base of my plant and it hasn't stopped them. I also used neem oil hoping it would discourage them with the taste. I went out tonight & there now chewing my Arabella which is right next to the Belle.

I'm not a person that uses chemicals but I'm fed up!!!!

Please anyone with info how I can stop them from eating my clems. I'm just so frustrated!

Thanks in advance
