Please help me plant my shaded chain link fence

OK pals, tell me. I've got Carolina jasmine and native red honeysuckle and a coupla climbing roses in the sunny to dappled ends of the big old fence, but I'm tired of looking at the chain links in deep shade.

The fence used to enclose two hound dogs but now that they're gone, I have lots of native plants -- many from you guys at swaps.

Must be JB proof and deer proof, for they are on outside of fence and have no hounds to fear.

Would love some bloom, of course, or lacking that, interesting color. Bird food a plus, but I don't want something that's going to spread into the woods beyond the fence -- very concerned about spreading invasives even if they're natives.

I have some fern beds spotted along the fence, with jacks, trillium, etc but the need is for something to climb the fence and look good but not take over the universe back there. And require no care! yes, I want it all!

Suggestion, please. Thanks much, and I'll see you at the Raleigh and High Point swaps.

Carole
