Hi Joey. What type of spray do you mean? Insecticides?
I don't use chemical sprays, instead make my own mix to prevent pests. My mix consistis of 2-4 drops of dish soap, (not Dawn) finely ground citrus peel and garlic. Add to a sprayer, my sprayer is 16oz. Shake well, then spray entire plant. I spray as a preventative and if insects are present.
In autumn, before plants are brought indoors, I foliar spray with Fish Emulsion. 1 capful to a 16oz mister filled with water. Again, spray plant thoroughly. You can also add both concoctions.
For flying pests, like whitefly, I attach Yellow Sticky Traps that can be bought online. Some hardware stores/nurseires sell them too.
Otherwise, don't spray chemicals on plants, especially edibles without reason. Moreso if you eat fruit from trees. Yuck.
I use chemcial fertilizers on citrus, but that's applied on soil, not foliage. Toni

Give them lots of sun light, both in the summer and the winter, a great fertilizer, and good fast draining soil that will not compact over time. If you are not sure on the watering part, invest in a good water meter, and only water when they are almost dry. That little device saved me a many plant until I learned to make a great soil by Al. Of course, if you have them in a fast draining, well airated soil, no worries. You can water and water until your heart is content, and the water will just drain right out of your pots!!lol
Remember,getting them in spring and growing them outside, that is the easy part. But come fall, if your up for the challenge, it can be a bit trickier, and experience will make it alot easier thanks to the friends on this site and their help!!
Many are having sucess growing them indoors, even I am now!
