Kylie I know what you mean. I am going to erase my exchange list tomorrow. People contact me from that. And I really am totally happy with the people here. I can not handle that right now.

Once I DO have cuttings..IN MY HANDS....I will post how many I have and then I give them out as I have requests for them. Nobody here on the forum has been asking thou without me offering. Please my dear Brug friends know that I do not mean YOU here.

CAN you send me Some FREE CUTTINGS that are rooted with some good dirt already fertilized properly, Make sure they are free of pests and are all doubles that R very expensive. Oh ya I prefer not to pay for the postage either so if ya get a chance could you get started before the first frost. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
But really I would take it. LOL All joking aside I just dont think some people think that our plants are the thing that makes us whole. Cutting are future plants that we have to share when we are ready to. I get asked for plants all the time and thats fine when I ready I will offer but if you need it any sooner You can find it on EBAY where I had to Buy most of mine. It takes Blood sweat and tears> I love my plants. Dont let anyone stress you out, Thats what you have husbands and kids for. LOL

I think people should wait and ask when someone already has the cuttings ready to go unless you offer...I offered some cuttings to see who would be interested when I cut mine down within a couple weeks...I've only had one response...I think I'll repost when they are actually cut and ready to mail.

Really, I do agree. If a person has cuttings they will offer them.

LOL, I cannot raise anything but common varieties. Not too many people asking. It does not get cool enough here to cut a plant until around Christmas. Not very many people wanting January cuttings. Then on top of that I am a lousy shipper. I figure it costs me $ 30.00 to ship one package. (time and effort). Closest post office is 5 miles and I go to work before it opens and come home after it closes. When I do ship I try to fill up the box.

I get that every year. Some people are so nice that I will send cuttings but there's plenty that I'm ignoring this year. The ones I think are nice I tell to keep in touch and I'll let them know when I'm cutting them back. I don't keep an exchange page but people read my posts and contact me for all kinds of stuff. I have very infrequently come across a post by a stranger where they are talking about something that I'm looking for and I have sent an email asking if they have any extra seeds, cuttings or know where I can get one but I always offer an exchange or payment and can count the number of times I've done that on one hand.

I agree that people shouldn't contact you asking for plants/cuttings/seeds for postage unless you indicate this is acceptable on your trade list.

That being said, please realize how difficult it is for those who have just discovered brugs. Oh, the waiting is horrendous! Even a few purchases just don't dull the pain. :)

I'm sure that no one is consciously trying to take advantage. They don't even realize that their requests verge on rudeness.

J4J.. lmao... These are people I have never engaged conversation with just out of the blue and I don't have any trades listed...LOL Happens every yr.. I have always offered cuttings for postage to people here and will continue..Just not sending to every Tom Dick and Harry that happens to pop in in Oct to see what they can scrounge for free..Nope not this yr...

I quit keeping an exchange page a few yrs ago when people I didn't know or never even saw post, started emailing me with a list of everything they wanted - like they were shopping lol.
Not even asking but demanding! One person said he wanted about 20 things and gave me his address and told me to have it out by a certain date LOL! I emailed him back and ask him what he wanted to trade and he said nothing but that he *might* give me postage after he got it, IF he liked what I had sent LMAO ~NOT! Found out later this guy was a ebay seller and had solicited a lot of people in the same manner lol.
I really can't stand pushy people.

I have had the same problem many times and although I love to share the things I love, it does get frustrating. When I do cut mine back, I will post an offer. Any of you all who want some of mine, just let me know. I think you already have most of the varieties I have.

LOL J4J, don't forget it should also be blooming size, already have a y, and have buds ready to open right when they unpack it.

I haven't had a problem with people emailing me for cuttings. Sorry for those of you who do. I have arranged several trades though :) After my trades are done with, I think I am going to offer up a few newbie packages with my extra cuttings like several of you do.

There was one lady who sent the nicest email requesting cuttings a week or so ago. Some people, even if they aren't posters on this forum just seem so pleasant that you want to share with them. There were a couple people that requested brugs last year that are now occasionally posting and sharing pics and others that have kept in touch with me via emails. Then of course there's others that you never hear from again and some that are downright rude, like they are doing you a favor by sending them cuttings.

Keep it fun and yall know who frequents here. Even a lurker still has to comment on some things. I always say im just gonna peak and normally I do but other times it ends up with a long late night post. Whats up with the Nit pickers who want to pick apart every word you post. Now that really chaps my bootie. Even if its not my post.

I agree with being a newbie and having met Kristy in the beginning made me see how important and great it is to share with a newbie. I will always do this for Postage. Got to enable them you know. Look where it took me lol.

That said I hope that none of us are being taken for fools or getting our feelings hurt for trying to enable others :-)

Lucy there's some really pushy people who think nothing of cold calling you to place an "order". I just don't get why they do it? Do they really think that they'll get anything? I had someone that demanded specific brug cuttings last fall and they were acting like I should know who they were and just drop everything to get what they wanted. Those are the ones whose emails get blocked.

I am with you both. I might get used once. But only once. From the same person lol

I must say this whole time since I joined the forum has been nothing but the most wonderful experience. If anything happened, it was my mistake.

I haven't had a problem with that. If I get one of those emails, I tell them I will put them on my list (& it's a looonnng one). Also if I don't know them (or if I do & I'm broke at the time), I ask for them to send postage first (with confirmation if I don't know them). I am trying to get most of the cuttings I trade this year rooted first (which makes it an even longer wait). It makes me sad to see one I have shared that didn't make it.

I thought about this post off and on all day. I was traveling so I had lots of "thinking time."

Everyone I have met on this forum is very friendly and generous. However, if you find yourself being hounded for cuttings/plants, you may need to post a polite but blunt statement on your trade list. Something along the lines that cuttings/plants are available for postage under special circumstances and that the viewer should watch -----Forum(s) for your "postage" offers.

I'm sure there would still be those that asked but you could simply delete and block at that point. No worries about newbies that were just unaware. The information would be out there for everyone.

As a rather new gardener, I watch carefully for listings offering my "wants" for postage only. Even then, I let the person know that I am willing to wait until they make all the trades they can. I realize that a trade for something you want is much more desirable than sending cuttings/plants/seeds for postage. I would never want my postage reimbursement to prevent someone from trading for one of their wants.
