My Germany trade was a success! More to Love! :)

My Germany trade was a success! They were mailed out on Monday & arrived today! Most already have 'nubbies!' lol! Meet:

'Double L'Amour'

'Super Spot'

'Angels' Swingtime'

'Double Dark Rosetta'

'Angel's Cloud'

'Angel's Honeymoon'

Now if I can get them to grow through the winter - I'll be happy! And lots - to hopefully share with everyone next year! :) Four of them can be seen at the link I posted below! I'll put another link for the other three in a second post. I LOVE the looks of them all - but I'm especially taken by 'Angel's Honeymoon!' She's a beauty! :)

Ingrid - Congratulations! I too am constantly asking my husband to see something amazing in the garden - he tries to be polite, but can barely stop himself from yawning. I also have a happy story about DdB. I have a really ancient plant, at least 50 years old, probably older. However, I did not even know it was there for years, because it was sort of surrounded and eaten by my huge Le Vesuve. Finally I noticed that one or two flowers of the Le Vesuve were a different color, form, etc. Eventually I realized that there was an old plant of DdB inside of the LV! You could not see hardly any of the bush, just a few blooms every year. Well, 15 years went by, and the winter before last the LV died back on one side - about the far 4 feet of its width just died. So, I cut out the dead wood. That was the side where the DdB was lurking. Low and behold - the DdB must have taken advantage of its liberation over this past Winter. I noticed a few days ago (it is now blooming) that I can actually see an entire DdB plant which is about 4 feet wide and 8 feet tall, and covered in blooms! That's why I love old roses - they persevere! Mine is the many petaled kind, and just stunning. Oh, another thought - re your comment that some bug has drilled a hole in the bud - sounds like that awful little red beetle (I forget its name). They do not come in ones, so you might want to look around and see if you see more. They look just like ladybugs, except no spots, and they have a long long nose which they use to drill holes in rose buds! You have to pick them off (they fall straight down if disturbed, so I hold a bag or something below them). You also have to get rid of the buds with the holes - they are now full of beetle eggs. I gave away four and kept eight of them. Two were put in big pots on my deck and they're the only ones flowering now. The other six have suffered from the constraints of living in 4" pots all summer, and they haven't flowered. No buds at all. It was so darn hot here this year that I just decided to wait till this month to plant them somewhere. I'll have to check with the sisters-in-law who took the other seedlings and see if they've flowered. Anyway, I don't mind that they're some new cross. I think they look really cool! It also provides some harmony in my garden with the red centers, because I plant to put them in a spot that has red Meidiland roses growing above them on top of a rock retaining wall. The red echo will look nice as it transitions into the lower flowerbed.

Wow, thank you everyone for the wonderful and flattering comments! I love posting pictures, so you guys will never get rid of me now! lol On the mystery plant... I've never even seen 4 o'clocks, but I looked it up and it does look like the foliage, huh? We've only been here 3 years, so it could be old seed laying around (we get tomato plants popping up all the time) or delivered via bird, we live closed packed in around here. I will wait and find it if it makes it. It's in a high traffic area with my kids and trikes, lol. Thanks for all the input on that. Gladys, thanks, now I have to go look up how to collect viscaria seeds. ;) I wouldn't even have thought of that. uptomyeyeballs, congrats on the baby on the way! I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible and that he/she is a good sleeper for ya. ;) I hear ya on the watering. We don't have any irrigation (except for my butt moving around the sprinkler attached to the hose.) I'm so thrifty with the water, I use the laundry and dish washer "grey" water to water my compost, and the water from my kid's baby pool to water my sunflowers. But that is another story. Thank again everyone for the kind words. I've learned so much on gw and I really enjoy gardening the more I learn about it and the more success I have, it's less frustrating!

Many, many thanks Elaine and Jerome for another wonderful time in the presence of you two wonderful people ( you are absolutely fabulous people). Thanks also to all you great garden webbers who shared so wonderfully of your plants and your knowledge. And what a great place to have a Plant Swap...surrounded by Elaine and Jerome's many beautiful gardens full of wonderful plants...many blooming with heads held high. What a joy it was to be there and share such an uplifting experience yet again. And with great gratitude...and a special THANKS...to all you Gardenwebbers. This time I brought two newbies to Elaine and Jerome's Plant Swap. They have just started their garden and were so excited. Thanks so much for sharing with them as well. They were truly overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness...and remain so excited. They spent yesterday planting and reliving the grand experience. We will see them again..thanks to all of you. The food was ..OH SO YUMMY too. hehe Fortunately I left with less than I arrived with...for the first time. Until I get my garden back in control..and the new area settled..that was the wisest choice for now. hehe So THANKS..again to you, Elaine and Jerome. OH YES..This time I took the river walk...So peaceful and lovely. Thanks for that too. *G* You have such a beautiful place...and your Plant Swap was a HUGE success...again! *G* MANY THANKS!!!!!

CONGRATS! How did you get them? They are actually form Germany or are they from someone in the US who happened to have them? Everyone I am sure will be sending positive vibes your way! BTW what does honeymoon look like?

Now do not tell me you got the cuttings from Kirchner Abel ? That would suck for me. Cause I just looked at there site a couple of days ago to see if they sell cuttings.

You must be in hog heaven....Sure you will bring them just fine through the winter. Cause we all want to see them next year give you the best flushes.

As I scrolled down on that site- My mouth just dropped & I kept sucking in my breath- those German Beauties are the most BEAUTIFUL Brugs I have ever seen! (I'm a newbie, so maybe that's not saying much) I am realizing that I might need group therapy BA (brugs anon, maybe) my hubby's gone for 6 weeks & I'm having a very hard time controling my spending urges for Brugs- I might have to stay away from the PC for a week or so...... I - I - I - Can't do it!
LOL! If you're making up a list in the future--please think of me too! :)
Good luck rooting your cuttings! Their environment looks so spotless, like a Chemistry Lab! I'm sure they'll do fine, they're pretty thick & long...
