Ponderosa seeds wil come true to type. Most Citrus do. Even if it didn't, it will produce fruit, Could be as good as Mother Plant, Better or worse. You might even discover a new variety. I currently have 55 Varieties growing, Ponderosa being one, it hasn't fruited yet but I am waiting. I have had no problems yet with taste or variety of what has fruited. Hey Guys, I just repotted my Ponderosa and Seedless Washington navel into the gritty mix. WHEW! Its too hot for this crap! Its 8:15pm and still in the low 70's with high humidity. I did learn my lesson though with not planting right into the gritty mix. The Ponderosa was just a rooted cutting that I bought so it was much easier to remove the soil from the rootball but NOT THE navel!! THe Oro is really progressing quite nicely. I think in another month or 2 they should be ready to pick. THe only down side is that I have not seen any blooms since early summer but I cannot wait for these fruits! Andrew

It is one of those rods, and it is very deep in the trunk. I can't pull it out. We have many palms of different varieties along the wall. Including a few unidentified trees. I also have a dwarf meyer tree that just lost all is blooms and looks like it has no fruit, though it did have fruit when we moved in. We have almost 30 palms. We are going to dig up a few. Maybe that will be included. I haven't had the soil tested but I dI'd fertilize the meyer. Will regular fruit tree fertilizer work or do I need to get specific nitrogen/iron? I appreciate all the advice!

Looks like a Cuban Shaddock to me. See details on this page which seems to fit: http://www.citrusvariety.ucr.edu/citrus/cuban_shaddock.html Cuban Shaddock is used as a rootstock, which suggests your tree could be the rootstock having taken over from the original variety. Can you post a picture of the trunk from ground up?
