Hows your humidity? The number one problem I am having is the leaf fungus, Powdery mildew. I am using neem oil to prevent/ slow its progression. Spraying before it sets in is the key. I have also used liquid copper but it doesnt seem to slow it enough after its present. Let em grow, and with the right soil, nutrients, temps they will grow like vines!!! and when they are ready they will produce two blooms, male and female. Do ya have any bees? if not you are gonna hand pollinate em to get the cucs. You dont have to remove the flowers. the pic shows em very young yet, and they havent been thinned. Did you sow seeds directly in the yard or are these transplants? Growing that close together they will fight for water and nutrients when they get head high! Some will lose and die. I would separate to 12 inches apart at least, they grow like crazy and could produce continuously so you would be up to your ears in cucumbers before you know it. That close together IMO they wont produce as well. I am growing 4 together in a 5 gal cooler and they just arent producing. I did get 4 cucumbers but they havent continued. 1 is now dead, so I have three and they seem to be getting along.

Hi! I have a peace lilly that is constantly flowering. It shoots 2 flowers at the same time & has done this about every 3 to 4 months continually. Even this winter! This is my first peace lilly plant, i've had it just over a year now, & i really don't know the proper way to care for it. I just give it water when the leaves start to droop, and a light shot of fertilizer once a month. The stamen i think its called is that thing in the middle of the flower, used for pollenating? I just leave mine alone till the stem and all has turned brown and dried up then i gently pull it out. Its not a pretty sight, but once its really started to fade the leaves start to hide it. I'm no expert by any means, but i figure i'll just leave it be and my plant seems to be happy with that. Tonia

I cut mine back last year. The foliage was looking ratty after a few dry spells, so in August sometime, maybe, I just cut off all the ugly foliage which was most of it. Believe it or not, the leaves came right back, healthy and clean looking going into the fall. This spring, they are looking better than any spring I've seen them. So I feel it was a good thing. I will probably do it again this year. They didn't need it right after flowering though, it was later in the summer. I would do it anytime the plant was looking worse for wear.

yes - you can do it. Or you can give them a feed with a weak solution of the fish emulsion or manure tea or alfa alfa tea - weak is the word - or you can give them an epsom salt supplement - I guess 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. Or all the above. Or nothing at all. The most important thing is to keep a good eye on the plant - because tired look, loss of shine on the leaves, droopiness - it can be a sign of root rot - and the plant is going to keel over very soon. So - investigate the stem at the soil level and slightly under - and if it is it - cut the crown, remove the big leaves and reroot. good luck Irina
