All my holiday cactus are in buds

I have about 10 pots of holiday cactus in pink, purple, orange, white and ALL of them are in buds. It looks like I'm gonna have a very fabulous show of blooms within the next few days. Here're a few of them:

Xuan, they are beautiful plants. Here in US, ours don't get flowers until the days are shorter and nights longer. That is usually around Chrismat time. I wish they bloomed all year long.

This is a very exciting thread I must say! I have a number of TCs that have bloomed or are still in bud. I keep mine out on the balcony till late October when temps can drop all the way down to 3-5 degrees C. Once the buds reach some 5mm I take the plants in and keep them at room temps while they are blooming. They then are moved to their winter quarters where I also overwinter my Epiphyllums and Selenicereus at 3-5C at night and around 5-10C daytime. I do let the soil go dry before I water and while dormant I hardly ever water at all. In the picture below is my white TC a month ago - I fully agree with the observations on the purplish tinge to the petals - happens if you keep your plants at lower temps when they're setting buds - clearly my case. A completely white TC, including the pistil, is a very rare variety, not as rare as to warrant $100 for a small cutting of course, but still. Lena

Mine started budding early last week. They bloom every year for me: summers outdoors on a balcony with filtered Western sun, fertilizer and leaving outside until almost first frost. Once the buds fatten up a little bit, I bring indoors. I don't wait until they are fully formed b/c I don't want to risk them blasting from the temp. change. So, I try to bring them in when the temps. both outside and in are the closet(usually during the daylight hours) to reduce shock. Can't wait to post pics when they bloom! Happy Growing....

Not a heck of a lot.. But I took a couple of pictures of a couple of mine that I have in the very cold almost dark garage..I think I see a bud..:-) Hi everyone..All you have such beautiful plants! Thank you for helping me grow mine and for all these pictures to prove you all know what you are doing... When those Christmass lights go on Linda, please share will ya? This one has been through the ringer..I have never changed the mix, it has fallen dozens of times, it has frozen over twice, and completely gone dry from forgetting to water for weeks, and it still lives..lol..You can tell, but it is still growing bud..I am going to take better care of it now since I am liking these more and more The rest are ones I picked up over the spring.. I have killed most of my maters this year (and most of everything else too for that matter) because of not being able to haul hoses. Wow Xuan!! That's so cool...as Ima said, we won't be seeing ours blooming for a few more months , we have to have some cool weather and shorter days. Boy am I ready for some of that right about now. Unfortunately for us in FL we have at least two more months of sun and steamy, LOL.

Xaun..Your Holiday cactus are fantastic..do they normally bloom this early?

For some strange reason, mine bloomed, (nowhere as many as Xaun) in March and July..A few here and there..I talk to a woman in MD, and she too found several buds on her Christmas Cactus a few times this summer..What's going on? Is it our crazy weather or some fluke with hybrids? Toni

VERY nice! Here in NY mine start setting buds in early to mid fall. When the nights get cooler and longer. Under my back patio deck they never fail to bud up!

Toni, my cacti tend to bloom occasionally year round (a few blooms here and there on the plant) but the mass show is normally this time of year onwards until Dec/Jan. I've noticed that at least I have twice the show like this with blooms on EVERY "branch", well.. almost every branch, to be exact LOL!

Don't really know if it's the result of the crazy weather we're experiencing globally.
