Newbie with a Haworthia Seeks Info

Hey! I just picked up two Haworthia without really knowing much about them and I have a couple of questions. The variety I got is H. cymbiformis. It is supposed to be a shade tolerant, winter grower, and I planned to put it by a north window. There are two plants in 3.5 inch pots. One of them is in a clump of pups and the other only has two pups. Can I pot both plants into a standard 5.5 inch or is that too much space for them?

Both plants are rather root bound in the pots they are in now. I've heard talk of seperating pups. Is this similiar to division in other plants? I might seperate some of the pups from the larger of the two.

Also, should I get a special succlent potting soil or can I use some of the all-purpose soil I already have?

I know that's alot to answer but thanks for your time. I really appreciate it.
