Dear friends, greeting from

munich. We just finished carrying 7 huge brugs into the basement. It is snowing like crazy and very cold.

I miss getting to a computer on a daily basis, to read your posts, but, oh well.

Take care of yourselves and your Angels.

Are you having fun besides the hauling? Talked to my mom and she said too that it is COOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD :-( ahhh but Oktoberfest. Are you going there? hmmmm when is it? Man you know I NEVER WENT TO ONE :-( Guess I have to go to Fredicksburg lol

So are you taking orders for cuttings yet? roflmao Just kidding and pulling your leg lol

Oh Ingrid it is snowing....hard to imagine when here in California is still warm. Did you take a snow jacket with you?
Did you see those brugs flowering or was to late when you got there?
Take care of yourself and enjoy your stay.

Kenny, I've read (now) your question about rooting of cuttings of figs. Of course if there are important meanings in cultivate American-cuttings-come-from-Europe-and-in-Europe-to-be-returned (or for other sentimental) this is perfect. Take into account however that in Italy there are almost hundred different varieties of figs. Of course there are some problem about parthenocarpic or needing-pollen, but one cultivator of figs (in Berlin), has no problem about this type of smallness. For Eukofios, unfortunately in south of Germany there is no possibility about figs, in fact this territory is the north side of the Alpes ridge, cold and subject to north wind. The south ridge (in Italy) a lot more warm is also too cold, except along the main lakes, quite big and deep, around the lakes there are small climatic "islands" where in particular protected site also lemon and orange may grow, and also figs. Normally (very slowly) figs become to be in more presents in more quantity going to the south, but every in naturally protected sites. Anyone ever tried a Blomberg gas range? (from Germany)

I'm trying to find a gas range that looks a bit more professional. I find those drawers at the bottom useless and would love to have something with the legs. I can't afford Viking or Wolfe, so I've searched around. Came across a Blomberg from Germany, but don't see much about them in reviews. My budget tops out at $5,000. Any advice would be appreciated.

Terribly cold. But the brugs in the basement are blooming like crazy, even though their leaves are turning yellow. By the way, I don't think that these are any "special" brugs. They are all yellow singles. All the same.
I was really surprised to learn that my friend here is planning to cut the brugs (when?? don't know) and then she will stand the sticks in a bucket with a few inches of water. Imagine, she does not change the water all winter!!!!She says that in the springtime, there is always an abundance of roots, ready to be planted, or given away.

In other words, what I'm saying is that these brugs don't receive the tender loving care that "we" give ours, and I have read about overwintering of brugs, on this forum, and learned a lot.

Sorry, folks, there won't be any pictures of local plants. Everything is covered with a blanket of snow. Also, my camera is my cellphone which I can't use or charge here.

Lucy, Oktoberfest is during the last two weeks of September because the weather usually is warmer then. So, I missed that. But I'll still drink some Munich beer to your health!

Ingrid I rather have just the beer anyways. do not like crowds lol I had already remembered though that the October fest had been over already. Cause at one point I had ask myself why they call it Octoberfest when they have it in SEPTEMBER lol

Yupp Ingrid...there is no place like home lol

Maddy and I watched the Wizard of Oz last weekend lol

With changing the water...I am sure it has a l ot to do with the weather conditions in the place you keep the cuttings.
That is why I do not do water during winter...I just FORGET to change the water constantly. To much work too.

When will you come back to your Ca home?

All I can say is brrrrrrr! Ingrid, today it's expected to be 91 here in the SFV. We had a couple of days of rain, and then it got hot again :-( I remember the beer from Europe -- it is soooo good!

Great to hear from you Ingrid! Even though it is cold enjoy your time in Germany! You can always get warm when you come back home! Hope you can check in again with us and give us an update!
