i found some really fantastic finds...i think

Now I have only been really back "into" succulents for about 2 months but I am obsessive compulsive. add to that I am a bargain hunter. Well I think I hit every Lowe's & Home Depot in our Tri-State Area(WV/OH/PA) this weekend. They got new plants and had a lot marked down for $1 and .50. Here is what followed me home... if you know the unknown mystery plants please help me. I think a few are RARE find...

I have to take more photos but I got more...LOL Gasteraloe Green Ice, lithops, etc. Remember I am in 2 bedroom 2nd floor patio apartment. I may have to make friends with all my neighbors to plant sit this winter...LOL

Pic # 4 is Haworthia limifolia, one of my favorite plants of all time. They remind me of living sculpture. Yours has a nice symmetry & looks healthy.

Takes med light only, semi-shade, ease up on watering a bit in Summer if very hot. Good to see all that perlite!

Thanks for ID and care tips pirate girl....I loved it when I saw it and at $3.98 could not pass it up! Do you know if the 2 crested I got are "RARE" finds as I have read oon various websites or did I just get lucky?

The bug eyed head, the two wings in a V-position at rest, and the way the hind leg is jointed says FLY to me. It is similar to a horsefly. The two small appendages sticking forward at the top of its head are navigation aids. These act like a gyroscope when the fly is in flight. These vibrate in a plane at a high rate and when the insect turns, a small, but detectable gyrscopic moment is felt. Feedback from these detectors aids the fly to maintain its desired flight path and wing motion adjustment. Rate turn instruments for airplanes have been protytped and tested using this principle and found useable.

Sadly, we can't keep it now. For one thing, I found out the cost of matching the tile to the area which does not have it, would be approximately $2000. I never expected that, had no idea new encaustic tile was that much money let alone that wasn't even the price to exactly match it, just for some other encaustic tile in general - I never even got around to asking how much it would be for a special order. Once I found out the price of their stock line, that was that. Aside from that anyway, when demolition began it really dinged up the edges of the existing tile rather badly. I had to take a hard look at the situation and when my BF even admitted that he felt it might be the wrong move to try and salvage it (he, I think, was more in love with it than I) I finally admitted defeat. I am now on a quest to try and figure out the best material to float over the floor. I've been told that laying regular ceramic over is the easiest method but I really would prefer a wood floor to match the rest of the house. So - not sure yet what's going to happen. Bummer for sure.

I haven't had a chance to update this til now (had periodontal surgery on Friday, and have been pretty much out of it since then) - but did want to say that we got the CL piece, it's in place, and I really like it! Since we didn't have anywhere else to use, or even store, the old painted piece, we put it at the curb Friday evening (a bit reluctantly on my part -- after all, it was one of the first things I "created" when we moved into this house about six years ago). But it was picked up within about an hour, so I hope that it's making somebody else happy now. :-) DH doesn't want me to paint this piece, but I keep envisioning it in some kind of stain -- maybe a turquoise or red -- that would give it some color while still allowing it to look like a wooden stained piece. I'm not even sure if such a treatment exists, but I'm thinking it probably does -- I just don't know what to call it! Anyway, here are new pics. Oh, and it holds a lot of stuff too. With the exception of a couple of pair of presently unused 2" blinds, which were stored in the old piece, the new piece holds everything that I had stored in the other chest. I do wish it didn't have to be sandwiched in by the washer and dryer, but my hands are pretty much tied in that regard. ;-) (Must apologize for dark pictures again! I dunno what I'm doing wrong with the camera ...)

This is going to be a weird question, but is your room where the table is going more square or more rectangular. I ask because as someone who purchased and resold several tables before settling on the one I currently have (thank you Craigslist!), I found that a round table in a more rectangular area just doesn't seem to work well - the proportions are off. Now if you have a squarish open area for the table, you'll be good (and even if the room is rectangular, if a buffet or hutch or something is filling up one of the ends so that the area where the table goes is squarish, I think you'll be good. I don't remember if there was pic of the area in your last thread. But anyhow, it's just something to consider. Out of all the ones you posted, I like the first one the best.

Not sure what you were thinking but hum ... I'm a pumice girl, simply 'cause I've had access to it for a long time, but for those who don't, that's why I advocate Perlite.

Drainage really matters for Haws. grown indoors, I've had mine lose roots once or twice (not this one).

Some real gems out there, if one looks closely, gets lucky & learns the delivery days of the BBS. Then one can get there fast enough before they incur bad care.

Sorry Nancy (OP),

I don't know much about crests of that. I've seen crested Ech. & Aeoniums, not so much of Sedum or Grapto.

'Rare' I think is often overused online, more like a marketing ploy, to try & sucker folks in that the plant is something distinct & unique.

Fred Ives is one plant that commonly crests; for about every 10 leaves I propagate from a normal Fred Ives plant I get 2-3 crested plants; so that one isn't rare, sorry to say. Not sure about the restÃ¢ÂÂ¦still great prices though, regardless of rarity!
