OT gonna kill hubby

I have been stressing out because I ordered him a birthday gift like a month or so ago and it never got here. Well it came today and he just told me right when I was about to go to bed. I guess they can wait til morning. He finally got his variegated plumerias. He is tickled. I bet if he knew they were for him he wouldn't have forgotten to tell me about the box, lol. One is called Maya like the brug and the other is Unya or something like that. Been so long since I ordered them I forgot what they look like. Gotta go back and see, lol. They are nice fat good size cuttings. Lol, he just said he is taking them to the shop to root so I don't have to worry about it then, lol.

Sounds neat! Im trying to think of an Anniversary gift for my hubby. He doesnt do flowers. Maybe I could go mow down one of my flower beds for him and call that his gift. It would save him the trouble of beheading my babies. LOL

Thanks guys..I was wrong in quoting the price..I was cornfused, lol. I guess I said $34 cuz the orig total would have been $134 and change. They rang up as $36 each before the discount. Dopey lil $2 mistake on my part, but I had to correct it. Shawn, they are in 4 gallon pots. Or ya know, the 3.84 gallon ones, lol. Thanks for letting me know about the Ebay forbid. I am glad it worked for you! Def gonna save up for it. Well, I took the palms out of their pots and made a temporary raised bed for them. I HAD to get them out of those pots. I took a pic I was gonna post..but there were some unmentionables of DH's on the clothesline, lol. I didnt realize there was anything there when I took the pic. I'll take another tomorrow. I'm not gonna bother bringing them in for the winter. I think I will just treat them as annuals. My house is really small. Every corner is already filled up, lol. I'll be stealing enuf room from DH in the basement for the brugs as it is. Really wish I could keep em goin though. Kristy, I agree..he should have called someone. I hope it wasnt those neighbors..maybe the dog just smelled your dogs and hoppd the fence. Thank god he didnt attack John!

Made me and my husband laugh too. It is the best animal story since my sister told me about her money grubbing cat who keeps her horde of coins on the foot of their bed . She Won't let the male cat close to her money and gets pissed when my sister and hubby do "the deed" and the coins get tossed around.

I'm still just a mess. Thank you all so much for your responses. It's funny, I'm not the least bit of a "germaphobe." I have several dogs and likely sleep with a least one dog butt in my face every night. Dust doesn't bother me nor do I lay awake at night worrying about bed bugs or the swine flu. But this got me. I feel like everything in the house is coated with asbestos. As I said, this small back den ajoins the kitchen and I figure all the dishes, items in the pantry, walls, everything is tainted. Toxic waste dump! Okay, rant over for the time being. Vinyl tiles are 9X9 size and there's absolutely no doubt that they are the asbestos kind...not in my mind anyway! Hubby whacked up about a 12X12 section of them before he got clued in. He then stopped so there are many tiles still down. Some tiles came up in tact, some were in pieces. He bagged the tiles and today he mopped down the whole area. He then spread this Ardex stuff I believe it's called on the floor to seal off the asbestos that is also in the black crap that they used to adhere the tiles. One bright note, he had just put these cut to fit hepa filter thingeys in our heating/ac vents. That's a bright note, right? Tomorrow he is going to try to wipe down as many surfaces as he can. How do you wipe every nook and freakin cranny? What else can we/I do.....seek out a therapist? Divorce court maybe? aggghhhhhh! Thanks for the hand holding, pup

Joanie, what brand of solid surface are you looking at? I have been looking at countertops for 4 months, and have definately found that at least in our area (northeast) granite and solid surface are priced very close. The budget solid surface colors are very limited as well. We actually had plan to go with an LG clor that was on special. I was really drawn to the seamless aspect of solid surface. When the price came in after templeting I was shocked. They charge an arm and a leg for integrated sink and backsplash. By the time it was all said and done it would have been more than a basic granite by about 25%, even more if I wanted everything completely seamless. So I'm back to the drawing board myself.

Great gift and I'm sure he'll change his toon when they find out they are for him. lol Did you order them from wat9228 (Lilathai Garden)in Thailand? They have loads of rooted variegated plumies (cuttings also) for great prices and reasonable phyto certs. I've been wanting to buy a couple of their rooted ones but don't know anyone that has bought from them.

Yes Karyn, I thats where I got them. I was scared too so I just bought the cuttings since they were cheaper. Next time I will get rooted plants. It took a while for them to come but they looked great. Had the phytocertification and everything. Theresa I put a few rocks on the bottom and then mix scotts topsoil and perlite and some potting soil together and root them on the concrete during the summer or next to a window in the house during the winter and don't water much. I water them once good and then only when they get really dry until they start making new leaves. They will rot if they stay too wet. John uses plain old dirt and it worked for him until he got into this watering thing. Now he overwaters the dirt ones so I changed the potting mix to make up for it. He used to forget to water them and thats why it worked, lol. I can't wait to see the leaves on these. I got a gold and green leaf one and a one with green and cream and pink leaves. The unrooted ones were only about $8 each if I remember right and with shipping and certificate it was about $32 total for both. Not bad for something so unusual.

Lol, I didn't have any named ones so I thought I would look and see what they had and get John something different for his birthday and when I found those I thought they were perfect. He likes variegated stuff.

The stuff on their site is beautiful. I've just been hesitant because of all the problems lately, especially with the Thai plumies. So many people have been getting ripped off. They think they are getting a plumie with these gorgeous flowers and by the time it blooms they find out it's a celadine or an equally common variety. Kind of like the brugs from Filthyrich except the plumies are considerably more expensive.
