Just wanted to follow up - Mentha posted it over on the Rhip board and a suggestion was made. In the process of researching the suggestion, I'm pretty sure I found out what my mystery Rhip is. At Cloud Jungle, they have a photo of R. micrantha forma kirbergii, and it was also mentioned that it was an EA plant. So I think I've got as good an ID as I can get until it flowers. Stelenicereus testudo looks like a great match to me. The only conflict I have is that this is an angel exotics plant. I went to their website to find better care tips for it but was surprised to see that they did not list it as a plant they grow. I checked a few of the synonyms as well and did not surface any results. My only thought is that they dont have all the plants listed or perhaps the ID may be off. I am more than happy to settle with the Selenicereus testudo ID but I would hate to be caring for it like steleni but its not that. Maybe it is, thats what Ill treat it like until I have further confirmed it. Thank you for all your help!! :) Steve

Looks more like Epiphyllium oxypetalum to me. If it grows any long thing "stick-like" stems, then you can assume it's E. oxypetalum. R. elliptica doesn't seem to sprout new growth from the sides of leaves like E. oxypetalum... but more from the ends of the leaves/joints, like other Rhipsalis. If you look at the growth of this plant, it sprouts new growth from just about anywhere. The real test will be the flower. If they're large beautiful flowers, it's Epiphyllium. If it's small flowers, it's Rhipsalis. But I'd go with E. oxypetalum. Here is a link that might be useful:

A. I've acquired one rhipsalis before during our rainy weather and it died on me, without even being identified at all. This one, i'm determined to keep (though i got way excited and potted it up with a couple of others). Is this Rhipsalis cereuscula (rice cactus) or R. teres prismatica? Or R. baccifera? R. Pilocarpa? (The last two seemed like the one i killed though -- can't find a picture but it was less furry than this.) B. I just realized that I have about a dozen types of kalanchoe already, even when i first thought i didn't like them! Here are a couple that have been fuss free but still unidentified. When i bought them, they came from a much cooler place and had thick bronzed edged leaves. Now #1 has thinner, greener leaves & looks nondescript while #2 turned even prettier with blue green with purple/ lavender hues & edging. Kindly confirm if my guesses are correct. 1. Kalanchoe laetiverens (crenatum x daigremontianium) 2. Kalananchoe crenata or fedtschenkoi (what a mouthful!) "Purple scallops"/ "Amethyst"
