What To Do With Excess Plants?

What do some of you do with excess plants when you want to cull? Such as when you have too many of one kind, or you have lost interest in a particular type (gasp!), or you need to make room for newer, more interesting plants?

I take them to my local Cactus and Succulent Society meeting and put them on the "Free" table. Nothing ever lasts more than 5 minutes!

Before I joined my society, I would just put them on the front walk of my apartment building with a little "Free!" note. Nothing ever lasted more than a few hours before someone took it.

Yu make offers for trades or, as I did, offer them free in return for postage (that's sent in advance). Alternatively, give them to a kindergarten if they're interested.

You could see if any school, community, or food bank type of gardens are going on in your area, and donate plants to a good cause. How lucky you are!

I called around some more and I found a Goodwill a few towns away that will take them. I'll try a few churches in the area but honestly the stuff has just got to go! Looking for shelters in our area (and I'm sure that they are here) are impossible to find. Our towns not too organized! When I picked DS1 up from school and told him that toys had to go he totally agreed. He said 'There's too many anyways and I can't find my favorites' so he's all on board! Whoo Hoo! I can't go through another yard sale and CL is the biggest PIA in my experience. Just not worth my time and the trash e-mails that I get from scammers when I post is ridiculous.

just make SURE you no longer need them before you get rid of them! my wife cannot understand why i always want more screwdriver sets, drills, etc. i keep a full set of common tools in the house, a larger set in my truck, and then 4 tool boxes full in my workshop. each tool box is dedicated to a specific task(plumbing, electrical, general purpose, and auto) and of course this means i have several duplicate tools. but i ALWAYS know i have everything i should need when i grab a box. so unless you are moving to an apartment/condo that will not require you to do anything around the house, i would say to keep most of them.

There are many unknowns here, but here is what I would do: Invest in appliances that I know I'll want in the upcoming remodel. Buy a simple sink cabinet base to house the sink. Treat the rest of the kitchen space and storage needs as an unfitted kitchen. Perhaps check Craigslist for hutches, narrow tables and other furniture that could serve as storage, and functional workstations in your space. You won't be investing a great deal, and can repurpose or sell these pieces in the future. Open shelving instead of uppers. (More economical.) I would treat the area by the radiator as a landing zone or mini-mudroom, assuming the door to the outside is used and may need a place for sitting, hanging coats, etc. A large bench would work well. Boy Scouts, or Girl Scout groups would want them, I bring them to kindergarten children, and teach them about plants, I had 6 request from teachers in the first grade. I did it. I have brought them to retirement homes, I have given them to the Cactus and Succullent groups, we have used them for charity fund raisers, garden clubs love them, they sell them to members to raise memey for a veterans memorial, each city should have one.
We used them for christmas gifts at meetings, and decorations for luncheon tables. Given them away as thank you presents, and dinner gifts when I was asked to dinner, I gave two away to the people who dropped off a refrigerator, neighbors love them. Welcome new neighbors with a plant.

Throw them away to the green bins-here,nobody wants Jade or Crassula tetragona or Aloe ciliaris or pups of Agave americana. They like to see them in my garden,but thats it. You cant give them away.

I just put them out front with a "free" sign. Maybe they don't want that stuff in TX, but in FL, they snatch it right up.
