Worth the wait; a few of my pretties

My Echinopsis hybrids are blooming a little earlier this year, probably because I put them outside earlier.

The top one is Schick "Napea" and the other is Schick "Oaxaca" The napea flowers are smaller this year, but this plant likes to bloom.

For reasons I won't go into, it has taken me 4 years to get Shores of Time to bloom. Finally this year the 2 clumps I had of it sent up multiple scapes and I was holding my breath waiting to see for the first time the daylily everyone said was the truest pink you could get. Well, its a nice pink for sure, but that pretty pink bloom clashed with the orange rust pustules that sprang up all over the leaves. I was so ticked after a 4 year wait, that I immediately pitched one clump and have the 2nd one close to the dumpster if the rust explodes again. So here's my sympathy to you. Thank you, everyone, for sharing in my excitement! We inherited my husband's grandmother's dresser (not an antique-- a very heavy, 1980s "Early American" dresser) and I have hated it for the last 10 years. I've looked for 2 years for something I could afford to replace it with. My husband is lucky-- he just thinks "a dresser is a dresser." I would save much time and money if I could get used to things the way he can! Hope everyone had a great day!

Hi Donna and Joey (and everyone else reading this), I miss the forum so much! It was a pleasure to take a quick peek today. I was recently in contact with Living Gardens. I'm sorry to report the news contained in these excerpts included in messages received from their representatives. 'LivingGardens.com has currently shut down operations while we undergo some organizational changes, and we will not be offering any bulb products for sale this season." "We will notify you if and when Living Gardens comes back. It will definitely not be for this season, but perhaps next. So, there won't be any 'Thai Thai' bulbs from this source. Barbara I agree I love bare root rose bushes bands on the other hand seem to take forever. I lived in Mountlake Terrace several years ago and it seemed to be a pretty good place to grow most everything . No I never tried roses because all I had was a apartment with the little deck and it was on the Shady Side so lots of begonias and impatience for me. I may have inadvertently gotten two Ingrid Bergmans so yay for me . It is such a great dark red. I have an Out of Rosenheim ready to bloom too. I can't wait

I'm not having much flowers from my gang. Over 60% of the echis did not bloom this year. May I ask, how tall is your plant?

Thanks everyone: here's another from Mexican Hat (unnamed). This guy must have a lot of Lobivia in him because it etoiliates like crazy. Getting ready to chop it in half.

Luv daisies: These are Echinopsis hybrids, the two in the first picture are Schick hybrids and they are available at Huntington Gardens, but they are $7.50 each and many come very small.

I got these two from Arizona Cactus Sales and they were about $15. You can also look on Ebay. Also Altmans is selling plants at the BBS that they call Rainbow Bursts, but since they are unnamed, you'll be taking a chance. There are also Paramount hybrids, these are the parents of the Schick hybrids so the flowers aren't as spectacular.

Aztcqn: the napea is about 6" tall; I've had it for about 5 years, it started blooming after the first year. The other one is in a 4" pot. I hardly get any blooms in my 3" sized plants unless it happened to come with a bud. And one of my big Tricho's finally has buds on it and I've had that one for 9 years. They are baking in the sun for a good part of the day and I guess that's what it wanted. The bigger E hybrids get more full sun than the small guys, but my vertical pumpkin patch is about to block the morning sun. (I planted the pumpkins in a dog pen and the leaves are crawling up the walls :-)
