Where can you purchase large size trees?

I've been searching to find some larger sized citrus trees specifically a key lime tree, clementine, minneola tangelo, and navel orange. All I can seem to find is 2-3' trees or Growquest (and we don't need to get into that). Any help would be appreciated. These will be potted plants brought indoors during the winter months of North Texas. Thanks!

well you may have a problem getting anything shipped to texas. Our Lowes here in oklahoma typically have 3-4 foot trees in the spring. One of our local nursery will have 8 foot plus trees on occasion but we can get trees shipped here with no problem. You may try some of you non big box nurseries and see if the have or can get anything you may like.

I saw some on ebay a few days ago. Might want to check that out but that may be a little risky

Good question. Always interested in any olive discussions. I wasn't in a hurry and bought 'Arbequina' and 'Arbosana' as twigs. They do grow pretty quickly. My 'Arbequina' is now as high as the 4' fence behind it after a couple of years:

Well, I got two of the hybrid seedlings from Rolling River. I would not have purchased them if I had seem them that is for sure. There are really spindly/thin and don't see how this (what looks like a cutting) will become a bush. They are alive and growing though. Summer Winds had unnamed varieties for 9$ in much better shape. I bought two there and then saw a Coolidge at Home Depot for 18$. Picked that up and a month later see Naemetz (sp?) at HD for 20$ and pick that up. I move my spindly Rolling River ones out to some place in the yard and replace with the HD varieties. I also so Naemetz at Lowe's quite large trained as a tree for 35$ I think.

Great article!!! I just recently had an experience with it. After making homemade soup/chile/stew, I freeze the leftovers for my husband to take to work for lunch. Until recently I used yogurt containers. His friends were laughing at his "teensy little bit" of food because he's such a big guy (6'2 210). I too thought it was a fairly small amount.... until... I was too lazy to make dinner one night so I pulled two of the yogurt containers out of the freezer, thawed them, and poured the contents into soup bowls. I'm not exaggerating when I say it appeared to be twice as much! My husband actually said these words.... "I'd like to start taking THIS amount to work... those little containers are just not filling enough." So now he takes the exact same amount to work every day but it's in a wide, shallow dish that makes it appear to be twice as much food. It sounds really silly... but try it! Seriously, 6 oz. of chile in a yogurt container appears to be a snack... while that same amount spread out in a soup bowl looks like lunch. It's the "smaller plate" theory. A reasonable amount of food on a large plate looks skimpy... as if you're being deprived... which of course causes you to want seconds. But that same amount of food on a smaller plate looks like plenty... so it's satisfying. Now I'm gonna go to the dessert exchange forum... bye :)

Hi Rina. I’m only a couple months behind on this thread ha ha but I really need your guidance. I’ve read your posts on this site for many years. If you ever wonder if anyone is benefiting from your experience wonder no more. I’m a fan. My husband and I moved a few years ago. The only plant we barely had room to move was our large jade. I call her the mothership. :-) I’m shaping the mothership into a tree so I’ve pruned her three times since our move. I was a beginner and she’s healthy so I kept every leaf and stem. Now I’m a beginner + with at least a hundred jades. I have learned SO much (and still do) reading your posts. I took your advice and planted each cutting in its own pot. I also took your advice, per the photo, and left all the bottom leaves intact to promote a thicker trunk. Most of my jades are the same size as those in the photo or a few inches shorter. I pruned most to branch. My dilemma is this … where do I go from here? For example, I allowed the two on the left to get tall before pruning to branch. Should I shorten them so they won’t get top heavy? And the plant on the right. Should I prune the two branches? If so how much? Leave two sets of leaves on each branch correct? Or do nothing? She’s a beauty but I’m afraid she’ll be a top heavy beauty in a few months or years. I now have this unexpected but awesome hobby. I’ve learned a lot the past three years but I have a long way to go. Arizona is a Citrus State. Here there are Nurseries all over the place that sell 24"-60" box trees that have to be moved with forklifts or cranes. They don't sell online and don't ship though.

Texas is a Citrus State. I would assume there are nurseries in Texas that sell similar trees.

I have never heard of the company I am posting a link to and they have not received any reviews at the Dave's Garden Watchdog. I consider such places to be a crap shoot. However the place is in Texas. Are they close enough for you to drive to so you can see what you are getting for your money?

Why big trees? The MUCH more available younger trees grow pretty darned fast.

sorry for the delay in response...got a virus on the computer and it locked it up for a few days. anyways...

thanks for the responses. im completely re-landscaping my front yard and i have a couple spots for citrus in pots near the entryway. i didnt want to put small trees in just because it will off balance everything...i might have to though. i will keep looking.
