Not naked anymore! Sort-of! lol!

After the move - 'Day Dreams' was completely naked! :) Finally - she has somewhat recovered. And she now has a few buds & blooms! Yippeee!

Hi Mike, I'm Denise i live in florida.Your brug is very pretty.I feel sad for you having to cut your brug back.I have three that have finally made Ys.In a month they will bloom i hope.How cold does it get there? I have'nt seen snow,don't think i would like it.

Any advice for taking the LC out of the "barn" area? the ground has a lot of gravel/rocks in it and judging by the greens alone, the bulbs must be so close together. I have read that it is best to try and dig them after the foliage has died down a some in late spring, and before they bloom later in the summer. I would think that late May or sometime early to mid June would be the best time. I'd suggest you maybe using a heavy long handled pick-ax, mattock, or grubbing hoe, and once you get started digging at the end of the walk, swing it, trying to get deep and under the bulbs. You will then probably have to pry them up to get the roots to release. Your local hardware store should have one of the above mentioned tools if you don't already have one (or more). Is it possible that these bulbs were planted a hundred years ago (ish) and never divided? the poor babies... I guess it is possible...yes, poor babies. I know these are expensive bulbs to buy, You are right...they sell for $14.95 for ONE(!!!) bulb at Bulbmeister $10.99 for a quart pot at Lazy S Farm $8.25 for one bulb at Old House Gardens $14.00 at Plant Delights-no count mentioned-probably just one bulb $10.50 at Touch of Nature $28.00 for 5 at Brant and Becky's and they are sold out. $15.95 for 3 at Whiteflower Farm...plus shipping of course on top of those prices. but does anyone ever want to trade for them? Yes, they are very tradeable, and you should be able to get some very nice things for them. I pretty well don't trade them anymore because of no one really offering things that were of equal 'value' for them, because they were not aware of what they actually cost to buy, or just figured because I grew them that they were 'like' free' from me. They also did not realize how expensive postage would be to mail my end of the bulbs. Trading one nice sized bulb, imho, should get you a fan of a nice named daylily, or a fan of a nice named iris, or some named daffodils per one bulb traded or other nice plants. Be aware too that if/when you trade them, the cost of postage you will have on your end of a trade. Once you know a traders address, or just their zip code, you can go to the Mail Zone chart to see what mail zone they are from you. You can then go to Priority Mail Prices to see what it would cost for postage by the LB to the different mail zones. Most, if not everyone east of the Mississippi, is in mail zones 4 or less from you and me here in IN. Since the bulbs are so big and heavy, when trading, you might consider using the Flat Rate Boxes, and costs for those are shown at the link above. A cheap digital postage scale is a valuable aid in packing plants, bulbs, and even seeds for trading. Scales are usually available on ebay for less than $20 and that includes shipping. Oh...one last thing. I think maybe that some embers don't realize that these are a lot more expensive that other Lycoris that are not nearly as hardy and that are a lot less expensive. If, when you trade them, you might want to include a link to one of the places I linked to above, so they know just how costly they are to purchase them. Yeah, and I can't seem to get a live person to verify the SSN either. So, I'm just going to wait now until after I get married and hope that changing my name will just "reset" everything (I know, wishful thinking, but I'm so tired of dealing with this). Thank goodness the bank is reasonable about this...I get many looks of sympathy and suggestions to get around the problem from loan officers, which is really much easier than trying to go through the CC agencies. Our loan is approved, and really, that's all I was worried about, so I'm taking a break for awhile. I don't use credit that much anyways anymore (learned my lesson).

Just think Lydia, if she had good luck after having spilled water on herself, I'm thinking I will probably win the lottery or something really good-hey I was soaking wet so that should count for something. Drought sounds pretty good to me right now. LOL At work yesterday, I was here alone, I went to the bathroom, no water. I checked every sink, no water. I thought to myself, here we go again, round 4. I called our other office to see if they were aware of any water issues, none that they knew of. About 30 minutes later I checked the sink again, we had a lot of air in the lines and then water. I don't know what happened or why, but we had water again. I think the water is taunting me. Is she just too big to bring inside for the winter? Personally, I would leave her, just think how much bigger she'll get if you don't cut her, what a head start for next year..and you'll have big flushes!!

Denise - it gets pretty cold! Freezing, unfortunately!

Daniella - Too funny! (waving knife!!) Seriously, she's to big to bring in. I'll have back-up cuttings & probably most here on the forum will have some of her too! :) Yay! That 'knife' time is fast approaching!

Kylie - A MOWER!! How in the world? No - never mind! Just the thought & picture of it has left me numb!

Lucy - I've been here almost two months. And to be honest - the only thing the neighbors do - is mow! I think I saw Kylie mowing over the neighbors brugs! It was the large flower bonnet flopping in the wind that gave her away! But seriously - not much planted in the yards around me - trees, shrubs, etc. No brugs! lol!

Karen - Got your email! ;) And I want to see the two blooms too! lol! And the 'Cup of Gold' you sent me last year is much bigger now! :) I'll snap a pic of it tomorrow & shoot it off to you. Still no buds or blooms! But hey, I haven't killed it! lol!

Sue - Cutting, trading, & sharing time is around the corner! I usually start cutting around October 15th. Everyone has a 'time' - but I have to do it then to avoid the first frost. :) Check back with me around then & I'm sure I can fix you up with a cutting! ;)

Boy thats a mouth full when you are trying to call them all in. I say that coming from a large family and my Mom always yelling every single name when she was mad til the she got to the right one, lol. By then we were all laughing and would really get a dirty scolding, lol. They are really pretty. I have always loved huskies. They remind me of wolves. Check you email Mike.

Mike, I love them! Thanks for the pictures! I noticed Skyla has a brown and a blue eye. Does that happen in any color of husky or just the white ones? I bet it is fun to watch them when they all run around the yard! I love all the different colors of coat. I also noticed you submerge part of your brug pots into the soil. Does that seem to work well? I am thinking of doing that next year. That way maybe the gophers and moles won't be able to kill the whole plant.
