Yes, Karyn... the plumie forum. Actually, I followed you here, to Brug World, when I saw on your profile page that this was your favorite forum. Well how on earth could a Plumeria person choose another forum as her favorite? I came over to find out... I now understand. So thank you, for opening up my world. I was gonna ask you about your Ti plants from the other photos posted. Have yours ever sent up flower stalks?
Have you ever gotten seeds from yours and are the self fertile or do they need to be crossed?
I have one that just sent up a nice flower stalk. I want to try to cross it for seeds-any suggestions?
For some reason I thought they were supposed to flower in the spring....

Beautiful Bob! I am packing up and moving in the backyard with Daniella, lol. I remember you from the plumie forum too, lol. Haven't been on there in a while. Daniella I didn't send you a plumie cutting at Christmas? I will try to remedy that if I didn't. I know I sent out a couple but didn't remember to who. Remind me though. Is that really you with the ryder cup? Awesome!

Simply beautiful. Love the tropical look you have. I would love to do that here. We definitely have the heat in the summer and the winters are mild but every now and again we will get cold temps. We will joke when we actually get some cold weather for a few days and say, well we just had our winter. lol It's just too hard to transport pots in and out of the garage. So I have to try for a tropical feel without all those neat tropicals. Love the plumies and the crinum. Heck I love them all!

So we finally got the Ryder cup back after nine years? Well, it's about time then. lol How cool you were there.

Lenette... I love Hawaiian Ti (Cordyline). The tall Ti, that you pointed out, in a previous post, did bloom a few months ago. They are shown in the 3rd photo (after they bloomed), peaking over the Brug. I put some seeds in pots, and basically forgot about them. Only 3 seeds have taken (I just checked!), and the seedlings are still tiny.

I have never tried to pollinate them, but do believe that they can self or cross. I have a nice book: "The Cordyline, Ti Plant, King of Tropical Foliage", By B. Frank Brown Ed. D. It is available from Valkaria Tropical Gardens. valkariatg@aol.com. This is the author's garden.

Kristy... between you and Daniella, maybe I will finally get a pond. Last week, I videotaped the return of the Ryder Cup, to the PGA of America headquarters, hear in Palm Beach Gardens. Very exciting, as were the matches.

I have 3 sisters I think but mine don't look as good as yours. I brought back the red ti leaf from Hawaii but it didn't root. I have several of the native green ones growing well though. They make babies tee heee. The 3 sisters never have.

Deb... I cannot even imagine having to move potted plants in and out. The only time I move mine, is when a hurricane threatens, and its a real pain in the soft end! I enjoy having some of my plants in pots, like on the patio, and spread around in the garden. It takes good pot management come repotting time, planning which plants, with which pots, and minimizing new pot purchases! I think that there are a lot of tropical looking plants that you could use in your garden, along with a select few true tropicals, that you can keep portable, for those cold spells. Have you checked out the "Tropicalesque Gardens" forum? I have taken a peek, and it seems to be for your very situation: Tropical looking gardens, where tropical may not work best. Take a look, but don't be gone too long!

Kristy... I have 3 sisters, and a few others... don't remember the names off-hand. The greens are the easiest rooting, I believe. I have pretty good luck, just cutting the top off, shoving it in the ground, and watching them grow... reds or greens. I've never been big on depending on flowers for interest, and Cordyline are great for adding interest. The leaves are so beautiful.

Lucy... I am telling you... I see the paradise in that yard of yours, and I know you will make it manifest soon. in the meantime, please feel free to pop into my yard anytime. Thank you for loving it. I have been at it for 14 years! That red orchid is a Vanda from HD or Lowe's. I mention these stores so often, you guys are going to figure out that I am a fraud, and most of my plants come from there!

LOL, I KNOW where to put the pond..just come up with the cash to buy that lot next door!!! 2 nice ponds with a winding stream connecting them..an arched wooden bridge to cross the stream..I can see it all now. Thanks for sharing more pix, just beautiful!

Thanks for the info. I will look up that book. The flower on the ti I have is on a striped variety with wide leaves (not kiwi). Its really pretty but I don't know the name.

Theresa is right. She started all this ponding, lol. I got a cattle feed pan to plant the lotus and the next thing I knew I had about 5 little ponds waiting to go in the ground, lol. I love craigslist! I also love the orchid. I think that yellow one is the one I saw on a garden show that they said is easy and can be grown in the dirt? All they ever have here are the phals and they look pitiful for the price they ask. I got one last year and can't wait for it to bloom. Ok, pary at Bobs this weekend lets pack the bus for a road trip, lol.

Kristy and all... you have an open invitation... hope that's ok with my wife! She likes parties too. Kylie... you and I are going to get along just fine. Hong... don't kid yourself. You seem to have the gardening under control. I loved seeing your plants, flowers and hardscape items. Thanks for the nice compliment though. The big trophy was not for me... don't I wish! The Ryder Cup is a team golf competion, played every other year, between the United States and Europe. It is easily the greatest event in professional golf and one of the greatest events in all sports. It was played, a couple of weeks ago, in Louisville, KY, where the U.S. won for the first time, since 1999. It was incredibly exciting, even for people like me, who were there working 14 hour days! Anyway, I got to have my photo taken with the trophy, upon its return to the PGA of America's headquarters, here in my hometown.

I have a wedding in Miami in Feb. Up until a few years ago I used to spend a few weeks every winter in WPB. I've only experienced a couple cold snaps when I was there and it wasn't terrible. Orlando's another story. We were in Disney for the Millenium celebration and it was downright frosty! We were very close to moving to Weston a few years ago and had an agent showing us houses but then a surprise named Kyle came along and I couldn't move with a new baby. Now it's just too complicated though I really do hate the cold weather.
