Comments (20)I purchased a variety of mango from Albertson's grocery store of a variety I had never seen before. It was small, about the size of a Hass Avacado and remained yellow/orange. The mango had a wonderful flavor that I would like to enjoy again and again. The pulp had very little fiber through the flesh and near the seed pod. I have begun to germinate it following the vast information I was able to obtain. I only wish I had made a note of the variety! I checked the label, but all it said was "RCF El Rosario Sin Mex". If anyone has any ideas or advice to share, please help me out. Thanks from Bakersfield, CA...See MoreMango in So. Cal
Comments (7)My 10 year old manila produced 110 fruit the year before last. THe tree is about 15 high by 10 feet wide. but also remember, it took close to 5 years before I got my first fruit Glenn production? My tree is only 3 years old or so, but hope to get at least 10 this year.....but Manila is the fastest grower...BUT.....the Valencia Pride mango, which has fruit better than the Manila, grows just as fast - and you'll getr fruit in 2-3 years. Make sure it's a grafted tree. That's why the Manila takes so long, cuz it's a seedling.... MDog...See MoreSource For Lychee, Longan, Mango in SoCal
Comments (10)Hello All, Go To Mimosa Nursery on Los Angeles. It is really a cool Nursery with losts of stuff. Its about 3 to 4 Acres and is tucked into a Residential neighborhood. It really looks out of place, but I have been there and they have a large Variety of stuff. Open 7 days a week and they always have sales on the Tropical fruit trees. Good Size Lychee (Brewster, Mauritius, and Kaimana) and Longans - 1 gallon to 24" Box (1 Foot to 6 feet tall) Huge assortment of Guavas too. When I went, they had Mangos, Jakfruit, Wampee, Wax Jamboo, Rose Apple, Caimito (Purple Star Apple), Longan, Lychee, Cherimoya, Atemoya, Passion Fruit, Barbados Cherry, CArambola, Bilimbing, Mulberry, Papaya, Loquat, plus Tons of Citrus, Stone Fruit and a bunch more. Check them out, you could spend a whole afternoon there. Here is a link that might be useful: Mimosa Nursery in Los Angeles...See MoreLooking for Carrie mango in So Cal?
Comments (6)Ditto on Mimosa. I stopped in there (only about 0.5 mile from where i grew up!!! Who knew????) when I was in So. Cal for Greenscene. They have a lot but they were also way out of my budget range. Might as well order from Florida and pay shipping at those prices (just kidding, of course, because the plant would not have to endure the shock...but they ARE expensive)....See Morecatfat112
