Right now most Lowes, HD type stores have patio furniture marked down. They may not have something quite that big but I know they have tables that can seat 8.

I used to have Easter brunch in my garden for my family. I mixed smaller tables together. And I'd break out all my cool vintage tablecloths and spread them around too. The vintage ones were small so I'd put them over bigger 'real' tablecloths that matched.

You can pretty much use anything as long as you have enough fabric to tie them all together.

My house is too small to have a proper dining table indoors. So when we want to sit down together it's outdoors under the tree.

I've had a couple different tables that eventually succumbed to the elements. A few months ago my sister-in-law spotted a solid marble dining table on eBay with an opening bid of 99c. It was a pick up only but it was in my area. I jumped on it. It took a rental trailer and six people to move it but it was worth it. It seats eight. So beautiful and so weather proof! The smooth top is perfect for playing cards!

Right now I have two crappy wood benches. I hope to replace them with nice chairs or benches.

My dad turned a damaged antique billiard table into an outdoor "farmhouse" style table and built two long wooden benches to go with it. It was gorgeous. The weather finally got to it too. The benches are still here, but the table has been cannibalized to build the desk I'm sitting at and the headboard in my bedroom.
I have tried tiling a big piece of plywood for a table top, but moisture got to it and popped the grout.

Currently, I use two round metal tables: those ugly ones from the 70s with the screen-metal tops. They were both hand-me-downs. I spray painted them both dark green and bought sixteen dark-green plastic chairs and two dark-green umbrellas. I really love them because I can leave them right on the lawn and water the lawn without moving them. Bird poop rinses off easily. I can stack the chairs for the winter.

Oh, yes very good ideas on where to look for tables. I forget about Ebay and even Craig's list for such items.

I also looked at large planks of lumber recently and I might go the homemade route.

We got our outdoor table a few years ago at an end-of-season sale for floor model tables/chairs. We got a good discount for a table/rocker chairs that we really liked at Sears. I then was able to find minor flaws with the floor model and talked the manager into giving me even a better deal.
