Guess What? New Feature for Posting Pictures

Someone on the FL forum mentioned this today...just in case you guys haven't noticed it yet...I sure didn't till just now!

There's a shorter much easier way to post a picture without having to use a Photo sharing site like Photo bucket or Flicker...check out the section just below the "Post your Message to the Forum"

Nancy, thanks for sharing this information. It will be much simpler for me to share pictures on the rare occasion I post. Sometimes I am just too lazy to go through so many steps to get the pictures off my camera. Your jades are looking great. I have yet to coax a bud or bloom out of mine.

I did not notice that, Nancy! Thanks for bringing it to our attention!!

Testing it out with a small pic:
I think they insert it at 600px. The pic I used was smaller (400) & they automatically enlarge it-so it came out grainy. Now when I made changes I did not put the pic because I had already & it didn't show up after the edit. I put it back in.
So-if you go back to edit, you need to browse to put your pic back in that line before submitting.

Testing, testing . . . Interesting, found I got the 'message rejected' error the first time I edited as I did it too quickly after posting. But it worked after I waited just a few seconds. This post was edited by pineresin on Wed, Nov 28, 12 at 10:05

In photobucket, click on share above the picture, then get link code, then click on HTML full size to highlight it, RIGHT click on HTML, left click on copy. You now have your photo ready to post. Go back to Hosta forum, type your message, hit return once or twice, then RIGHT click, click on paste and your photo will be there. Hit preview to see it before you hit submit. I resize my photos in photobucket to large or to fit a 15 inch screen before I post my photos. Practice a couple of times, we would love to see your photos.

OK, so it is raining here in Mass. - I am now officially crying - so many pictures - so beautiful. I have six roses on the way - EBB TIDE. I planned to make a round or oval bed in my large front lawn. It is south facing - no fence - just lawn straight to the street. I have a little rock garden and that's all. I gardened for years and then got divorced. "THAT" house is a block away from where I live now. I feel so burnt out and so sad that I have to START ALL OVER AGAIN. And I am not accustomed to the weird layout of this house. If I put the roses in the center of a bed - what should I put around them on the outside of the circle? All your beautiful picture are of large spces or areas that are strictly roses - except winner of the award person - I can't even mention her name or I will start crying all over again. Please help - I am open to all suggestions. I live in metrowest Boston. Please send me a plan for a bed on a front lawn - full sun that can incorporate my 6 EBB TIDES? Someone take some pity M

One thing to consider: If you post a picture using this feature you have no way to delete it. If you post using Photobucket or Picasa, then decide you don't want the picture here, all you have to do is move or delete the picture from Photobucket or Picasa and it disappears here. Or if you want to change the size of it, you can do that. But if you've used the new feature to add it then you are stuck with it. Kate

Good to know, good to know (yuck, that is gonna create some problems with some images; a real shame). :)

Happy to share the news guys!! Of course there will be limitations and kinks,lol...we can't have it all.

Thanks for mentioning about when you have to edit...you will have to repost the photo Rosemarie.

Mircrothix, sorry it doesn't work on yur phone :o(

Maybe its just a quick way to post a single photo and the sizes are not optional either.

At least they(GW) are trying to get us in the right century...technology wise lol...

I'm sure we will run into more glitches.

Maybe a plus side info. Once up loaded and posted you cant remove (delete) pics uploaded to GW. AKA GW Legal TOS stuff. No blank photo bucket or other online photo account icons will be seen at any time after posting any GW uploaded photos

Each photo has it's own space on GW , resulting in: If we click on a GW upload pics you only see the pic(s) clicked on with a bigger screen size in a new tab.

Mobil uploads and other modern day things we may like to see from GW Hmmmm , If you give a mouse a cookie........

Thanks for this info! Great way to quickly upload single pic and not have to worry about intermediate steps and resizing big files.

Great isn't it, even I with very limited computer skills can do this. Most of the pictures I've posted on GW my DH does for me.
Hey I'm a golden oldie who touched a computer for the first time just a couple of years ago. There's a story behind why my screen moniker is aftermidnight LOL.

Mrlike2u brings up a good point...about not being able to delete your pix once you've uploaded this way. I like the option of deleting my pix (down the road), so using Photobucket (thumbnails) for uploads works better for me.

The reason I posted a small pic for a test was that it wouldn't be too large. Seems GW is making it a standard size.

This feature will make it easier for many to upload pix in a simple fashion (directly from their computer).

Ok, found the limit. I tried uploading a very large image and this is the message I got:

"Message Rejected

Your file upload was not allowed.

The file is larger than 5000 k."

So, if you have very large images you'll still need to resize them.
