I can’t even tell the difference, but would never have those windows on a garage. Maybe someone else has had an ok experience with that though, but I’m not sure just an anecdotal “ I’ve never had a security problem “ is enough. I guess you could say all first- floor house windows have same issues, but it somehow feels different. Partly because, you NEED good natural light in house, but can forego in garage, and there can use industrial ceiling LED tubes & such.

We have lots of new roofs in my neighborhood, and I would say only one in 10 houses/families gets the colors right. I think gray roofs or black roofs or charcoal gray roofs with browns and reds in the brick look horrible together. You need to pick up on the Browns. I think a dark brown would look very pretty with your brick.

If you cant afford to replace it with what it is, then I would go with the synthetic shakes. The color you have is very nice. Your stone is gorgeous, I would not do anything with that, and you can easily lighten or darken the stucco with the same color roof as you already have. Its a beautiful older tudor styled house. Congratulations on your new home. I actually love the color on the back, but, the front stucco looks a bit yellow, is it a different color.

Just a little update to say I am slowly moving along. Here is a before photo and a picture of where I am now. Before and now: I sorted out the bags. I removed most (not all) of the items I don't want there. Haven't dealt with the papers on the door yet but will need to as a pantry wall unit will be added where the papers are now. Went to IKEA to look for ideas and possible bins and garbage containers. Found one for the recycling that we will buy. It's a bit bigger (which we didn't need), and so with the new 14 inch shelves we will have to start the bottom shelf a bit higher to accommodate the new bin. The smaller bins for the shelves at IKEA were OK. I thought I found one I would like to use, but when I got home, I realized it was bigger than I would like. So I will have to look around some more---maybe a dollar store, Walmart? We were hoping to find some kind of battery operated lighting at IKEA, but there were none. We happen to have an extra one of the type that lights up when the door opens. I will give that a try, but was hoping to find some kind of strip lighting. Don't know if the one I have will be sufficient by itself. I would think I would need two of them. But since I have one, I will see how well it works. But I remember Jean mentioning motion activated lighting she is using in her similar pantry. So there is hope to find something! So as I go through this pantry reno, I can say that it feels good to rearrange and get rid of old items. Another discovery is that when wanting to keep certain items and move them to another location, I am discovering that I need to do some major clean ups in other areas too! So, at times, I have gotten distracted cleaning up the other spaces. Then I have had to remember what I was trying to accomplish and redirect myself back to the pantry reno!
