How do I predict when my epiphyllum is going to bloom?

I have an epiphyllum oxypetalum that is finally going to bloom. It has several buds, and the largest one is about 5" in length. Is there any way I can predict when it's going to bloom? Does it have to reach a certain size or something? The reason I ask this is because the plant is in my office building, meaning I can't stay there overnight to watch the flowers bloom. This means I must bring the plant back home before it blooms.

Also, I'm a bit worried...will moving the plant home and changing environments cause the buds to drop or stall? I've had that happen to orchid buds, but I'm not sure how sensitive epi buds are.

Thanks!
