What should I do about Co-Op CP?

Calling all involved in the spring brug Co-Op, and anyone and everyone else....

I had asked this question in my other post about CP blooming. Noone answered. I am so sure the CP's we got from the CO-Op are NOT CP's. Mary had posted her bloom pix as well as me, ours both look the same. Look like Coral Glow, NOT Coral Pink. Besides the color difference, the blooms come waaaay out of the calyx..Coral Pink is close to the calyx.

So, before I jump the gun and email TcTopCat1 to let him know, I want to know if you all think I should. I think I should.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that we did not get what we were supposed to? I was really happy to be getting named ones from him. Especially Amber Rose, since its my two DD's names combined. (ones first name, and the other's middle name)

SO far Coral Pink is the only one that has bloomed for me, so it is the only one I can say is not correct.

I looked at his ongoing auctions, and he has another supposed "Coral Pink" up there, but that doesnt look like the ones Mary & I have OR the correct one either.

Looks like the ones we have color wise, but corolla is closer to the calyx.

Has anyone else bought from him & recieved mislabeled brugs from him before? I see he has a 100% fdbk, but people dont normally wait on a plant like this to bloom before leaving fdbk. (Ebay used to give you a time limit to leave your fdbk, dont know if they still do) So of course people are going to get a brug, they think is correct..hey its a brug..and leave pos fdbk right away describing the plants condition, shipping, etc. Nothing concerning the blooms, for they dont know yet.

I guess its a chance you take, and for the prices we paid..really? how could we have said no? lol. Name or no name, it was a good deal! I'm not complaining, I love my babies regardless..just disappointed that so far the only one that has bloomed isnt what it was said to be.

I don't think he should be passing this on as Coral Pink when it's not. That just ticks me off. Now I have to pass on yet another as a NOID. Amber Rose had better be the real Amber Rose. She was doing so sadly, but she's finally doing better in the last week..I really I hope I get a bloom off her soon.

Let me know what you all think..to email him or not?

Couldn't hurt to email him. Hopefully he knows what plant the cuttings were from or find the plant in his collection if it was a mix-up.

Maybe you could send a pic of yours and ask what they think it might be.. see what kind of response you get..

Fran there's one thru yahoo groups, but I didn't see where it saved that much money. I can shop at BB's and do about as well and not worry about all the transport cost and shipping stresses. Plus if the person doing it is in a season different than yours then by the time they get them and get around to sending you yours you're a few weeks (or more) off optimal planting time for them. Which cause even more stresses on the plants. John, by the civilization reaches us, it'll be time to move!! :D

this is a co-op, so there is not a traditional "landlord"--Lisamaria is not a renter. She owns her apartment. (well, she owns shares in a corporation, and ownership fo those shares entitles her to her apartment, but the net effect is much the same). So Lisamaria hasn't improved the "landlord's" property; she has improved her own. Even if she were subletting from the apartment's owner, the CORPORATION would still need to repair it exactly the way it was before they broke through the wall. The owner's organization is the board of directors; the board should tell Lisamaria how they will deal w/ damage and reimbursement. Technically and traditionally, the corporation (of which Lisamaria is a shareholder) should foot the bill to repair any damage they cause. In my own co-op, which is a small 10-unit self-managed co-op, I can see the perhaps we might say, "everyone fix their own apartment," since my expensive, fancy tile backsplash (which I chose) will cost a lot more than the plain painted plaster that my neighbor has--and why should the rest of us foot a higher bill bcs I have a fancier backsplash? But that would be something my board would decide, and I'd get a vote on it. In a larger building, this would be very unusual. The corporation should foot the bill. In a co-op, you cannot even reufse non-emergency repairs. If a tenant-owner refuses to cooperate with the board, the board can seize the apartment, sell it out from under him, hand him the proceeds and wash their hands of him. This is the extreme end of how a co-op board can enforce their decisions; on the less extreme end of the spectrum, there are fines, etc. So Lisamaria shouldn't waste time arguing over WHETHER this should happen. She needs to focus her attention how to get it fixed properly afterward. She's worried about the quality of the work the bldg's super does, so she needs to take a proposal to the board about how to get it done nicely. Perhaps she can bring estimates from her original tile guys, and ask the board to use them. And she needs more detailed info about exactly where they're going to break into the wall. If she has a slide-in range, maybe they'll be able to confine their work to the area behind the range. In which case a simple "patching the plaster" job will be sufficient, since no one will ever see it. On another thread she started, I suggested that she investigate whether they can access her gas line through a different room (in my apartment, I think the gas runs up between the dining room and the kitchen). And, if the super's work is so clearly subpar, surely there are other people whose kitchens will be affected, who don't want him doing the finish work of reinstating their kitchens? And they could add their voice to yours? Time to start knocking on the doors of all the apartments below your.

We have a similar L-shaped effect (in terms of cooling). We find that setting a basic floor fan at the crook of the L successfully moves cool air into that leg. PCRichard has a 7,000 BTU portable unit for $329 or something; I see it in every other ad (the ads in between advertise the 9,000 BTU one). I don't know how loud it is; maybe you can get them to let you try it and listen. J&R has an 8,000 BTU one for $279.00 and a 7,000 BTU Amana for $300 and Haier for $279. You only need 4,000 to 5,000 BTUs to cool a room that's 10x8 (according to one formula I found), so that's a bit of overkill, but maybe it will bleed over into the other part of the room and ease the load on the other machine, maybe. We're thinking of getting the portable unit so we can close the door to that leg of the L (it's the kids' room) and, since it's a tall casement window, replacing the inner windowscreen w/ Plexiglas and putting the host in it. That's what my neighbor did upstairs from us w/ her L-shaped room; I have to ask to see her install. Also: how old is your wall-mounted AC? Ours is pretty old, and it's not that effective. I keep trying to get DH to agree to replace it. Or, now that it's part of a kitchen w/ a more powerful stove, you may need a more powerful AC unit.

If you aren't from North Carolina (or the South) then you might want to do a little more investigating before you decide to move there. The countryside is beautiful but jobs are tough to find unless you have a particular skill (nursing, etc). I have family outside of Asheville. It took them years to integrate. 20 years later, they have good friends and neighbors, but it took alot of work to fit in. Several years ago I picked up a book called "How To Find Your Ideal Country Home". EXCELLENT book that describes what pitfalls to avoid when choosing what and where you want to settle. The author also has a website/forum. You might get some ideas there. Here is a letter to the author describing what overly bossy outsiders can expect. I've bought several plants and cuttings from him. I don't know about mislabeled plants but I have had a few that went bad and he was very nice about sending replacements. I would send him an email along with a photo of the bloom.

Kylie, yes I think I'll do that first. See what his response is, then let him know I got it from him.

Even if he could tell me.."O I'm sorry it was mislabeled, it should have been labeled..whatever" ..Then can I call it that. I wouldnt feel right. I feel no matter what he says I should call it a NOID. But I will always prob refer to it (to myself and you all) as the fake CP, lol

Daniella if you want to use my pic that I posted for a comparison, feel free too. Also to let you know hopfully the EP will be open tonight. I am going to Nashville tomorrow afternoon so I hope it is open by then. If it isnt I may have to be like whoever that was that took their brug seedling camping with them. I too would like to know the real name but I am not going to be upset if I don't. I am just glad it wasn't yellow that is my least fave and you know I have that big CG with serrated leaves bloomimg in the front yard :) I have to work tonight but I will check on the EP (doesnt that remind of of Elvis Presly, maybe thats just a memphis thing) well anyway I will check tonight before I leave and in the morning when I get home, I have already taken one pic so keep your fingers crossed.

Ok! - I said I was not gonna post on the forum anymore but I feel I do need to handle this to the best of my ability. I did email Daniella this am after seeing the post and told her to definitely contact Mike Usina (TCtopcat1) and to tell him that it was from the brug co-op that I picked up and sent out plants to many of you. I have given Daniella his phone number as well as calling him myself! I left a meassage and still have not heard back. If this is not resolved through Mike I will do whatever I can to make this right with everyone involved in the co-op, since I did trust him. My sincerest apologies to everyone that was involved in the co-op and I hope that this and the other brugs are really true to name. You may personally email me for Mike's number as well as speaking about your concerns.
Again...my sincerest apologies for this situation, even though it was not my error, I do feel responsible and will do all I can to correct it.

Linda, There is no need for you to do anything, but thanks. You were a wonderful sweetie for going and picking up the plants and taking all the time and labor to send them out and I sincerely thank you a thousand times and think of your generosity everytime I look at my plants. A person that would do so much for complete strangers is a rare find these days. Those of us that bought plants did so at our own risk. I don't even really blame topcat if it is not the right name, heck coral pink or coral glow, who couldn't get that mixed up. I think we should all relax have a beverage of our choice (cranberry and absolute for me!!) and sit and smell and enjoy our blooms and be thankful for all the wonderful friends like you we have here.

I agree, chill, life is too short to get upset over something that small. At least you do have some blooms to enjoy even if they are the wrong named brug. LOL I've been taken more than a few times on just about every kind of plant I've bought. A few times it was to my advantage, daylilies that were more expensive than the ones I ordered. Irises that were mismarked also. Just because the names are wrong doesn't make the blooms any less beautiful.

I know it's not what you paid for, but it's still BEAUTIFUL when blooming. Can't wait to share photos of my M.M. with all of you. If you don't like the ones you got by what I hope was an honest mistake, ship them to me. LOL I still have plenty of room to add some more.

Even thou this does not affect me. When I read Linda's post. I just have to agree with Mary and say this.

Sometimes coincidences are SO BAD...the timing is all wrong and even thou no harm, bad thought ...ANYTHING had one thing to do with another. For strange reasons they will be connected. I learned many many years ago that you can not trust the internet, e mailing etc completely. A person tends to thing oh my, I wrote them and they are not answering. Well........sometimes e mails end up where they are not suppose to. Right Edna? lol I think I send you one which was intended for my sister or?
Well Linda what I am and a lot of other are saying is : nobody puts any blame on your good soul and person.
I sure hope everybody agrees with me and understands what I am trying to say.
Mistakes are made. S...happens sometimes. The only thing we can do is trying to make the best of it. Stick together trying to solve things.

Yes, we took a chance like I said, and really for the price we all paid..named or not, it was an awesome buy. ANd if it werent for you going out of your way for all of us involved, we wouldnt have any of these lovely plants.
I really appreciate everything you did for us, and I wouldnt want you to think that I hold you responsible at all, in any way. Thats just crazy!

I dont mind it doesnt have the right name...thats not the point.
The point is that NOONE should pass along, or SELL a brug as one that it isnt. Like I said, maybe he's not aware that this isnt CP..but then I would think that would make him an irresponsible seller. Maybe they were just mislabeled. I dont know, whatever, could just all be an innocent mistake..BUT he should know about it. So he can correct it. AM I not right?
I'm not freakin out over this, lol..I'm not going to sue him, lmao. I'm not going to hire a hitman to take him out cuz 'damn it, it's not Coral Pink!', lmao..NO not at all.
I just want him to know.

I dont mind calling her a NOID..she's beautiful regardless.
And I am thankful I have her.

I agree that mistakes happen. they just DO! It is GREAT that you want the source to know that there is one. If I buy something, I expect it to be what I bought. If I get a gift in trading or what have you. I am thrilled that someone was so kind and shared there treasures with me. Even if it turns out it is something different.

How can we learn or find out what we have and if it is maybe not what it is. If we can not post it here without someone thinking that we want to blame someone. I mean if I get a plant...named so and so. pass it on as so and so. and so on. I did not do that on purpose. Did not know that it was not what it was suppose to be. It would not have been a mistake. It would have been that I did not know any better. People selling things are just humans too and mistakes are easily made. Just think how busy they must be! From what and how I read things here, I really do not see blame. Just questions that want to be answered.
So if you never tell the seller, he will never know that he might have made a mistake and has a unhappy buyer. I am sure honest sellers appreciate your inquirery.One thing that keeps me here is that everybody is there for everyone.

Daniella I think you should let Mike know that your plant isn't what it was supposed to be. If you don't want a replacement that's fine but he should know. Like I said I've bought from him many times and when I've had a problem he's been quick to resolve it.
