The Aloe doesn't look like an Aloe to me. Looks more Haworthia-ish to me.

The others...I have no idea except that a few of them look exactly the same.

As you seem to realize (in part), this is a VERY tall order. Most folks when asking for IDs ask for 3, maybe 5, not 20.

Otherwise, the time investment you're asking is simply prohibitive (as in way too much).

Forum etiquette requires some consideration for the time of those you are asking for help. Post threads asking questions about related plants, and limit the number to five or less. This way you are likely to get helpful responses. For now, this is the best I can do.

You can still use forum (html) code to paste hyperlinks. Syntax:

[_a href=URL of photo_]Short name[_/a_]

Remove underscores. Paste in your link url. Type short name. Make sure the code works in PREVIEW. Spend the time to create clickable links and will you get more helpful responses than:

I use Picasa - when you upload your photos the online site has a section for photo sharing that includes either a link to the photo, or the code for embedding the photo in your post.

Apart from the issue with the links, it would have been a little easier with pictures of the flowers. Do you know if there are any hybrids among them or if they are true species?

Most of them are various things from the Echinopsis complex for except:

3 probably Sulcorebutia

14 Parodia?

15 Mammillaria (haageana?)

16 Mammillaria spinossisima, a cultivar known as 'Un pico' (alternate spellings are common).

No. 17 looks like a Lobivia, maybe tiegeliana (a kind of Echinopsis too).

I know nr 17 has orange flowers. Nr 18 is also a lobvia I think, I'll have the flower soon as the bud is getting bigger.

I asked my mother earlier today if there was many echinopsis and she said yes, so most of them are probably of that species.

I'm so sorry if I've asked too much of anyone, it's just that my mother's getting more and more forgetful on her older days and I'd like her to have the name of the cacti she is so vividly talking about.

Probably not tiegeliana, then, they usually have red flowers.
Have you tried to make the labels readable with "black light"? Could work, if you are lucky.

By the way, #2 pencil doesn't seem to fade on plastic ID tags.

You might try a great trick Norma suggested:

Make 2 labels & the next time your Mom repots, have her stick one in the bottom of the pot. This way, if one label gets lost, broken (or faded), the next time she repots, she'll find the other at the bottom of the pot.

(Not Norma's idea, but a good one she kindly shared w/ us.)
