Prunus caroliniana

We are landscaping our backyard and are trying to find a good screen plant(s) to put against the back fence to screen the neighbor's yard. We need something that will grow to somewhere between 15-20 feet tall. The fence is about 40 feet long. We also need somthing that won't hang over into the neighbor's yard too much and can plant the plants up to 3-4 feet from the fence line (it is on a slope). One landscaper suggested Prunus caroliniana but after doing some research it seems like this plant is poisonous (we have two young children). I guess my questions are 1)is Prunus caroliniana poisonous? 2) what other plants/trees would be appropriate for this type of use? Thanks for any help and suggestions.
