Invasion of the Hornworms!

Went out this morning getting ready to water the plants and noticed that my datura was getting eaten by something. So I investigated and found the culprit. It was a small hornworm about 1 1/2". So I went and got a bucket, scissors and my garden gloves because I wasn't going to touch it with my bare hands. eeewwww! I cut the leaf off and notice there was another, and another, and another.

So I carried the plant to the table and there I could see 8 of these little guys just going to town having a feast.

Yucky. Guess the sphinx moth that came to visit back in June left a deposit. :( Don't know where they have been hiding but they had just came out today. It's amazing how much they can eat. If I hadn't noticed them so early they probably would have totally devoured the plant by tonight. The plant is only about 2 ft. high.

Here are some pics of the invasion. LOL Wasn't able to get them all in the same pic.
