How do you decide on pricing an item?
Comments (5)Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated! (Sorry just getting back on this have had pc problems) Valson your items above look marvelous-great looking stuff! I'm now thinking my pricing will start at $3-5 for small painted leaves on up to $15 for larger and leaf shaped bowls, bird bath $25-$30; the painting is what takes the time on these items and I have many different leaves I could sell. Cracked egg spheres with hole in back for fogger(not included)$45, these are large and takes lots of time and fine tuning, Asian Lantern $35. these items are unpainted concrete items. Have a few smallish tufa bowls thinking $20 Never thought I would want to sell any of my creations, but when the crete stuff starts to accumulate...lol even after giving many items away, friends in UK and Aussie have taken a leaf or 2 home also gone to relatives in other states so figure now is the time to sell and hopefully make space for new ideas and items-Wendy...See MoreHow do you decide how to decorate the interior?
Comments (20)Kelly, I live not that far from you....your terrain, house, rock, etc. feel very familiar to me and I love your pictures! Your description in original post of what you like (traditional things but also the lodge look) sounds very much like what I am drawn to as well. You've gotten great advice on ignoring the people who want to know what your "style" is going to be....especially I love pinktoes' answers, LOL. Giving people one of those answers, moving in with your old stuff and giving yourself time is by far the best thing you can do for yourself in the beginning...just getting the house finished and moving is enough to deal with, without having to decide what your "look" is!!! That said, of course I have some ideas to throw out, LOL. See how you feel about starting with leather sofas and oriental-style rugs (think Karastan for beautiful and practical to live with as far as kids and pets.) That foundation can go more lodge (I like to describe the look as "rustic with money and a few nice things" LOL) or it can be pushed a bit toward mission/arts & crafts, or it can be pushed a bit towards a regional ranch/southwestern feeling...it actually all blends really well. Mountain lodges in the west, ranch houses from the past in the Texas hill country....both frequently contained oriental rugs and antiques from various places. If you like the general look of leather sofas and oriental-style rugs, then you can add furniture with more simple or clean lines (mission rockers, tables with a mission/arts & crafts or even a very rustic southwestern feel) or you can even add some more heavy or ornate antique pieces and wing chairs, or mix them up! I find that American oak (think quartersawn and tiger oak pieces) and old English style (think barley twist, Jacobean style) blend really well with this look. Do you like metal? That also works really well with all of these variations....think hammered copper lamp bases, or metal lamp base with stained glass shade...or copper and/or cast iron and/or pewter pots and candlesticks. Depending on what furniture pieces you are drawn to, and what decorative accents....well, as I said you can either push it toward more lodge, or more mission, or more regional ranch....or an eclectic mix with touches of each as it kind of all works together....but it will never look like you went to the local furniture store and bought a matched room full of furniture in a certain "style." ;~) Debra...See MorePlease help select a new washer - how do I decide ???
Comments (7)I just replaced our less than 7 year old top of the line Kenmore He Front Loader that bit the dust with an He Samsung Top Loader. This machine has just as much capacity as a front loader (4.7 cf). The drum is huge!! The He top loaders don't have the center agitator. This one (and many others) have HUGE drums. I can fit SO MUCH in this thing and actually enjoy doing laundry (well, as much as one can enjoy it!) again! My clothes smell good and get clean again. I also have two kids that get dirty playing sports, etc. Their clothes are coming out nice and clean. And my dryer that I was having to hit "touch up" on to finish getting the last little damp bits finished off is actually working because the spin is getting all the water out I suppose. I've stood over the clear lid and watched it work. It's getting all the laundry soaked and tumbling it all over. This morning I didn't want to do a load yet and needed to run it about an hour later. I then remembered it had a delay wash button! I hit it to start in an hour and went on with my day and came back to perfectly clean laundry! Other brands probably had that, but it's new to me with my 7 year old washer! I can throw a load in before bed and have it run when I wake up in the morning. Fantastic!...See MoreHow do you decide on a bathroom mirror size and lighting??
Comments (5)A 60” piece of furniture without a waterproof top does NOT fit in a 61” space. It would need to be a 68” space, minimum. 72” would be even better. You need 4” minimum clear space on either side gor cleaning and other maintenance. At 1/2”, you can’t even fit a pinky at the sides to swipe out cobwebs. Much less a paint brush. Plus, sinks at 43”H are virtually unusable. Water would run down your arms and onto the not suitably waterproofed vanity and onto the floor. The new standard height for vanity sink tops is 36” tall. Thats what an undermount ee sink and 36”H vanity gives you. You really need to put a full stop to this and hire a designer. Design isn’t about pretty colors and nice stone. Design is making sure the math works so you don’t expend effort on something completely unusable. Put that piece in a foyer or dining room, where it belongs.carry a tape measure with you wherever you go. Learn ergonomics and building codes and design standards. Or take the easy route and just hire the designer who already knows all of that....See Morepeachymomo
