Frosty Pink going crazy!

Thanks to our sweet Kasha, I have tons of Frosty Pink and they're blooming like mad! These are my first brugs and I'm just so thrilled to be caught up in this addiction. This fall I'll be begging and trading for more.

Kasha sent so many that I had plenty to share. It's wonderful riding up my street and seeing these things blooming in other yards. She had also sent Orange noids which haven't yet bloomed. One of them has buds... only one... and I'm wondering if perhaps I have mixed it up and it is actually an FP. Guess we'll find out soon!

This is also my first year for Datura. I love them as well, but the blooms sure don't last like a brug.

I've also got a Mystic Mountain from Brenda that is budding. Wasn't there some confusion on the name of that one? Can someone tell me about the blooms of this one?

Another bit of good news... one of my plumeria is pushing an inflo! Don't know what color or anything. For some reason I'm thinking it is a white. Don't know why I'm thinking this since it has never bloomed. I'd rather it be anything but white. No, I'll take that back. Don't want to put a jinx on anything. LOL

Kasha - if you send me an envelope with postage, I will send you some cuttings (although a box would be better). A "low rent" Brugmansia is just a term I just now made up that means one that isn't going to be super rare and that you don't have to pay a bunch of money for if you see it on ebay and so forth. Barb - Sure, that sounds fine. I have that and should be cutting it soon. You'll like the double white. It's not so rare but I think it has one of the best fragrances of them all. Will, when I first read this I didn't think I could be of any help besides sending the Brug comparison link (which you probably already know about), since I don't grow Isabella. But about half way down this page they say that Grand Mariner Pink, Golfito, and Isabella are all "believed to be the same brugmansia". I didn't know this and do grow Golfito. Golfito has just finished up a flush of blooms and FP has not yet bloomed for me this year so I did a leaf comparison. I would have taken a pic but the leaves look exactly the same to me! I did notice that FP had a slight "fuzzy" feel to it and Golfito did not. And, Golfito's blooms were at a definate "angle". So I guess this is really only helpful info for you if Isabella and Golfito and in fact the same brug... Here is a link that might be useful: Brugmansia Comparisons

My apologies for failing to acknowledge everyone's comments. Did not get any email notifications that anyone had responded to my query. Again, sorry! rudy625: your Brugs are looking happy :). Whereabout are you in PA? I have family from Cheswick, Sagamore, & Moshannon. It's strangely comforting (?!) to hear that other growers have also been experiencing the same probs with their Brugs. Really hoping it's just a weather related thing. Even Cornell Co-op was mystified by what could be going on with my trees! MsMorningSong: Sorry to hear you've had too much rain. Hope you get some nice flushes soon! crocuscottage: I'm on the Island too (South Levittown). This summer has been one of the worst IMO! So happy you are finally enjoying some blooms :)! I noticed my pink Brug put out a bud about 2" long but then it fell off. All the rest are still drying up & shriveling off :(. I think I'm going to give them just MG & seaweed from here on in & see if that helps any. My baby C. Grimaldi is starting to put out a bud so hopefully he'll be able to hold it. At this point, if I get ONE blossom this year, I'll be happy!

Thanks, I have a small yard and a big deck that borders a wooded ravine, thus the lush green. Most of my yard is in shade(Hostas Ferns impatience ect.) but the deck gets part sun. This year is the first year I have brugs in the ground on the side of the house but no signs of Y or buds...

Dang! I should have taken pics while the blooms were at their best. But then again, my camera sucks so they wouldn't look so good anyway. Maybe I'll remember tomorrow though. :)

moonie you know...it is way later then tomorrow and still no pics lol. How is that plumeria inflo doing? This year it is the plumeria's I am paying a lot of my attention too. Besides the Brugs, Dats, Hibiscus' and all the other NEW things I am growing lol

Well Lucy... I waited to late and had nothing but dead blooms to take pics of. Wanna see? LOL

I do have a bloom here and there on other FP's but nothing spectacular. It's so exciting to find a bloom but nothing like some of the pics you guys post. Especially considering my old camera. But, I'll find something soon to take a pic of. Maybe the inflo on my plumeria! The inflo is small and I've never grown plumeria but I'm hoping it'll keep getting bigger and better.

Just an idea how poorly my camera is performing, this is a pic from before I emptied out the GH this spring.

Moonie your camera takes great pictures. Your plants are awesome looking. You will get more blooms...just have that Camera ready for we all know that some blooms wilt fasten then we can charge batteries lol

Lucy - I'm waiting for the Mystic Morning (or Misty Morning) to bloom and also the Orange noid. Also, I have some small dats that I'm not sure if they're just plain ole white or maybe I'll get lucky and have a double purple! After the first few blooms, some of my plain ole white ones keep dropping the little buds.

Moonie- you are so sweet! I was just watering the 3 beautiful bananas that you sent me- they are doing great! I have my first bloom of the season on my orange noid- it's the only brug that I have that has a bloom- all of my other brugs are just forming their Y's... Did you notice that the orange noid doesn't need a Y to produce blooms? Strange... Anyway- your GH is awesome! I've talked Hubby into cutting down my 2 story Camelia to erect a Solarium (in the future)- it's a great trade! Can't wait to have a wonderful place to display my tropicals!
