Snowbelt Adeniums seems to have a lot to offer although I have not personally bought from them. Growing from seed is pretty easy as long as the seed is fresh. Adenium seed is not true to the parent (for the most part) which is why you will see grafted plants offered as this is the only way to propagate named cultivars/hybrids. There's probably more to it than that but that is the jist of it.

Phil at Sunbelt is an excellent source for grafted plants.

There are very few legitimate growers selling seed on eBay. I will share privately who I know are good. Probably 95% of the seed on eBay are just resellers who have bought from growers. That means potentially old seed with low percentages.

Look closely at the photos. Many are altered or doctored. Color is not true and one clown was actually selling adenium seed with a photo of an allamanda bloom on an adenium plant.

I love growing adenium from seed. It's true they don't come true to parent, but I still love doing it. Probably started close to 2000 so far this spring with quite a few more to go. :-)

Thank you so much Hirsuta & Rjj1. I really do think I want to try seed but it would also be nice to get a plant mature enough this season so that I can enjoy some blooms. I appreciate you sharing resources and information.

Like Plumeria there seems to be an endless list of named varieties, most of which are just minor variations on existing cultivars.

Growing from seed is easy if they are fresh but you don't know for sure what the growth habit and flowers are like.

I would love to grow an Adenium and I love starting plants from seeds. So does anyone know a reputable site that sells Adenium seeds, besides Ebay?

The US is not a mover and shaker in the adenium world, just a consumer. If you want small amounts of fresh high quality seed, it's best to import. eBay is the way to go. adenium_ko and kingadenium are very good businesses to deal with on eBay.

I bought some adenium seeds from eBay last year from Eco Oasis with excellent results. I planted 5 seeds and they had all germinated within a week. The cost was only 99 cents for 100 seeds, and even with the postage, the total cost was less than 3 bucks. The seeds are of the common pink flowering variety, but for a beginner I think this is an excellent start.

Found some DR at Walmart and while I know they will be a common white, pink or red the form makes up for all that. The best part is that since they were placed in the cold of the store, the leaves had started to drop so I got a great discount. Get ready $15 for all three. A good way to start for a beginner like me I think!
