So sorry, Jill...I was really fortunate in that my Milkweed didn't die from all the freezing weather. Hubby's Plumeria did not fare well. I've been find more Monarch cats each day, if you can believe it! I told my Kindergartners to search their Milkweed (those that still HAVE their plants) to see if they find any little 'babies' on them. I will find out on Monday morning if they have any! I know several of them have had their Painted Ladies eclose this past week...so they will be anxious to find a new 'baby' to raise. :) The 'bug,' so to speak, has been caught! tee-hee-hee

Maryann - Sunlight Gardens Nursery has A. macrophylla in stock still at $10/quart pot. They are in Tennessee, I believe. There is a $25 minimum order. I know, a ways from you, but I don't know of any place closer. Niche Gardens has A. tomentosa (but I think macrophylla would do best for you), but they have a $40 minimum order. LINDA - CONGRATS, CONGRATS, CONGRATS! I'd love to have some PVS's, but I don't think I have enough yet to feed them. Oh, it hurt to say that!!!!!! My tomentosas are just now putting on tiny new leaves. My macrophyllas are growing, but don't have that much foliage yet. My serpentarias (all 3 of them) would not be enough, and my A. clematitis - have about 10 stalks of that. I should buy more, but if I do, I'm afraid in 3 years, I'll have nothing but pipevine in the yard! LOL! Enjoy them. I check my leaves right now to make sure I DON'T have any because I don't think I have enough to sustain one cat yet. Thanks everyone. I couldn't check the plants tonight, it's been storming non-stop since I got home from work. I'd love to try and raise them but I'm gone from 7 am to 7:30 or later each weekday. Mother Nature will do a better job than me. I hope it/they survive, I haven't seen an adult this year.

Thanks Craig for your North Tulsa report. I will forward your info on. Sorry, that I have not gotten with you sooner. I've been busy "chasing Monarchs!" You are right on the money, Dawn. Monarchs love to fly way up there with the raptors. Have you ever seen a Monarch circle around, and then go up until they are out of sight? They love to catch the thermals, as the hawks and other migrating birds do when the north wind is just perfect. They exert alot less energy, and more guaranteed survival by sailing with the wind, as opposed to continually flapping their wings against the wind. Alot of hawk watchers in Texas are also good Monarch reporters. Large roost update: At home, Monday evening, rain and strong southerly winds had Monarchs scurrying to the north side of the trees, looking for shelter. Tuesday morning, the wind changed to the north, and about 9 a.m., the Monarchs were coming down out of the trees, spreading their wings, trying to soak up what sun they could. By 12 noon, most of them were gone. If there would have been any way I could have gotten off Tues., I would have dearly LOVED to have gone out to the large roost, and gotten pics of them with their wings open trying to soak up the rays before they left! That's were folks get these great pics of Monarchs roosting with their wings open! Oh, well.... another time. I have heard that there is another wave of Monarchs noted in Bartlesville, that should be making their way down. This group seems to be late. I had about 6 Monarchs in my yard today. There is always a bit of sadness when a large group leaves, though I know that they "gotta go", and time is of essence. The first bunch of Monarchs are already approaching the Mexican border!
