Jerry, I'll keep my eye on this post. I probably have a few duplicates and I'm also missing some. However, we're in this home temporarily until our "real" home is finished with renovations. I'll slowly be working on putting in the bookshelves and sorting my garden magazines. Since posts here last forever, I'll be able to find you easily. I will want to get rid of many of my duplicate magazines once we move and I'm sorted out. Horticulture also has some good garden/kitchen garden articles and I know I must have duplicates of many of those too! girlgroupgirl

Adding my 2 cents re: Acres. They call themselves a "voice for "ecological", not organic, agriculture. They are strong advocates for re-mineralization and biologically active soils. Extremely, and refreshingly, political, they strenuously oppose industrial agriculture and most attempts to regulate "the little guy". They look back, perhaps too fondly, to the writings of Albrecht and some of his contemporaries, who were the pioneers of agricultural investigation and education, before the chemical industry took over these fields. I read my monthly Acres newspaper enthusiastically AND critically. I'd prefer less "snake oil". They overly enthuse about certain new types of inputs-- albiet organic ones-- and they don't look at farms in the holistic, system-oriented way that most organic growers do. I agree that Rodale has gone downhill since the 70s. I have a small stash of old OG mags that I picked up at the second hand book store-- they're an absolute gold mine.

I want to add my two cents worth about my disappointment with the way Org. Gardening has turned out. I have read it for decades and am now reluctantly giving up. Garden Design is useless. Love Fine Grardening - yeah, it's lots of pictures (I think the best photography of the lot), but really good articles and advice. I have volumes going back for years - that's the one I keep. And I share them a lot w. new gardeners and friends. It's easy to locate specific articles with useful info. Also like Horticulture a lot. And I have just become a "member" of New England Gardening Club - primarily for the magazine People, Plants and Places - which is really quite good, but also because with joining comes a discount card for many NE garden centers and nurseries. This advice is only useful for NE, obviously - but if you are in this region check it out at newenglandgardening.com. I also belong to the Americal Horticulural Society and their magazine is excellent - that's an expensive join, but I get free entrance to many botanical gardens and so it pays me to do this (besides which, it's a good org to support_) I know this is supposed to be about least favorite but, hey, it just leads one to think about what one DOES like. sorry if this is incorrect

Hmmm, having been in a similar situation not too long ago I will say it was more difficult than I originally believed. 1) I would suggest you contact the librarian who is in charge of the Woods Hole plant sale and offer the magazines to be sold at the plant sale to benefit the library. I think what is key is finding your target audience (gardeners) and offering them for sale/donation at a related event. 2) Carry a large tote bag and quietly leave a stack behind in every doctorÂs office in town. 3) Convince WG that she should have a garden related item/gift swap during the plant swap and then come up with an excuse to leave early. 4) Convince a gardening friend who is putting in a new bed that your magazines make the perfect weed barrier with the added benefit of being able to read related material as they work. Now what you didnÂt share is what you plan on filling up the soon to be empty shelf space with!! So what is the motivation?
