Great pics, Daniella. I am so jealous of the dahlias. The mealy bugs ate mine and they were so pretty. I love that variegated loosestrife too and all the lillies and glads and everything else, lol. It rained this morning hallalujah! Maybe something will bloom now. First really good soaking rain we have had in months.

Great pics. My Stargazers haven't opened yet. They are slow this year. That's a cerinthe major. The Kiwi and major must have cross pollinated. I have both coming up and I thought I'd only planted major. Does that nicotania have a scent?

Karyn, it barely has a scent to me. My 4 yr old can smell it all the time and thinks it's great, but I've only gotten a slight scent from it 2x. Even tried all dif times of day and night. I'm very disappointed in that, was really looking forward to the fragrance. Otherwise I love it, the one in the pic here is almost 6' right now. The leaves are gigantic! Bigger than my giant cabbages' leaves.

Kristy, thanks. these dahlias were supposed to be spiders, but o well. HD bags of bulbs are almost always mislabeled. I ordered some 'Tahiti Sunrise' bulbs/tubers (whatever lol) from Park's..can't wait for them to bloom! They got planted later than the others. I miss my ones from last year..they were so pretty. This year I cam going to try and keep them in the ground w/mulch and see what happens. I know if I bring them in again they'll just rot on me again.
The mealy bugs got yours that bad? holy cow! I'm sorry! What did you do with it? I would try to cut it down, the bulb should still be good. Maybe it'll start getting some new growth and still bloom for you.

We had a really hard rain yesterday morn and I had to cut down some glads and stargazers that had broken stems. So nice to have the Stargazer's scent inside..love how they smell. Hope the buds on them that didn't open yet will still open inside.

You like the scent of Stargazers? If they are in a flower arrangement I have to pull them and throw them out. They make me positively ill but I think they are gorgeous. Next to Casablancas they are my favorite lily. Narcissus do the same thing to me.

O yeah I def love their scent. I have them along the back of the house, under my bedroom and kitchen windows so I can smell them inside too. So funny how fragrance can be so dif for people. I don't have any Casablancas, but they are on my list. I don't have any Narcissus either, and can't recall if I have ever even smelled them.

I had to look twice at your ee with the flower near/on it LOL! I just found a fat seedpod on my Black Magic ee's ~no clue where it came from the only other aroid type things that were blooming at the time were all the caladiums.

I like the Stargazer scent too. It is wierd how everyone processes smells. My dh loves brugs but hates most of thier scents even when they are pleasant~he says they all smell like lemon dishsoap! He's nuts.

Yeah the EE, I couldn't help myself..I had taken a spent waterlily out of the pond, opened it up and was wondering what I could do with it..was gonna float it in the pool, then I spied the EE. Was wondering if anyone would catch that! lol!
Caladiums..o man, the rabbits got to my 'Moonlight' Caladiums the other morning, Sent my dog after them. I had to tell Daisy it was OK to go into the flower bed, and then she chased them out. They havent been back. It was funny, I told her to go get them, she got to the fence and looked at me like..o but ma, I can't go in there! I was scared she'd trample everything but amazingly enough, she was very careful and didnt break or even step on one thing.

Thanks Kylie..didnt see your post before, we must have been typing at the same time. What if you tried them in dappled shade? Mine wilt really bad in the afternoon sun, I have to give them a drink every afternoon to perk them up. I should have put them in a different spot this year. Wish I had more apots of just morning sun.

I think it gets 3'tall or so.
As you can see it is small since I just got it last month, if it were bigger I'd divide it and send you a piece, but it's too soon..if you don't have it by spring, I can divide it then. But if you want, I will try and collect some seeds for you till then, but I don't know if it is sterile though, and if it's not I don't know anything about starting it from seed. Can be an experiment, lol.

I love that "Golden Alexander" too! Rigo, my #3 son is Alexander! Daniella your pond and yard are beautiful! My yard looks like a jungle!LOL My son"Lex" said that's not a bad thing! I'm glad your waterlilies and lotus are doing well for you. My plants are doing great too! I'll post pics soon!

I did cut the dahlias back. They were the short kind I bought at Lowes in a quart size pot. I went to cut off the spent blooms and found the stupid mealy bugs under the flowers then the foliage started dying. I cut it back but no new growth yet. The other black one was on the half dead rack and it never recovered. I will try them again next year. They were really pretty. John might have drowned them with his daily deep watering, lol. We haven't had any rain to speak of all summer. It did finally rain here this morning and I got about 6 drops on the windshield on the way home from work tonight, lol. It always stops right before our house then pops up again the next town over.

Daniella-Thanks for the offer on dividng your Alexader with me.No need to worry about that right now, just take care of that cool plant and If you do get seeds let me know,wont hurt to try them.

Tomorrow I will actually get to take a survey of the yard to see how they have been doing, I am scared to look!!! Mine is really a jungle right now and not in a good sort of way!!!

CC, the blooms on that daylily are a good size too! Almost 6" across. I got them last year, and this is the first time they are blooming for me, I absolutely love them!

Kristy, as long as the tuber is growing, all that water should be fine. When the tuber isn't growing and is dormant is when it will rot from too much water. Water it well every day, and hopefully you'll get some new shoots.

Mary, you should have them help you weed as well! I hope it's not that bad! ooo I hate those weeds. I want to know..why is it that dandelions always come up at the base of your wanted plants where they are so hard to pull? Are they smart? lol
