Need ID for vine

The tag in the pot says "MoonFlower Vine", the leaves look like it to me,the heart shape, but the top of plant is putting out what looks almost like a seed pod and I can't connect this pod to anything else in my garden.

The seed pod sure looks like abutilon. I was looking at it last night (too late to be actually thinking) and I thought it was something in the malvaceae family... but I was thinking marshmallow, but it didn't look right... abutilon is better!

Yes, it's similar to the potato vine and just as poisonous. Now I don't know if I still want it in my yard. The leaves are pretty though and the flower although tiny really stand out. I have another question and I'm hoping It's okay to post it here but I have a little insect that has eaten a whole autumn clematis two years in a row. Does anyone know what it is? you stole my speaker joke.. lol ... take the latin name.. and add 'propagation' .. and i bet my shiny nickle ... its easy and simple ... i mean really.. you are already cutting pieces off .. eh???? and then you can gift them to friends ... its blooming ... because the sun is rising from its winter darkness .... aka.. its spring ... i would assign flowering to that.. more than fert ... that it to say ..... the fert cant change the genetic inclination to bloom in spring ... [of course ... its a houseplant .. and it might bloom differently in its native area ...] for the record .... what music seems to inspire it ... <<<=== see what i did there .. lol ... here comes the sun ... ??? .... ken

And, Moon Flowers are huge, white "Morning Glories" that bloom in late afternoon into evening

That's Abutilon theophrasti, VELVET LEAF. It's a noxious weed in most of the country.

Definitely not "Moonflower Vine".

Whoever sold those to you needs to take a plant ID class.

Joe... I am interested in the ID class you are talking about. I had a friend take one, but he said it focused on mainly local trees.

Thanks for the ID, Joe. I knew it wasn't moonflower, but I was very curious as to what it was.

Heathen, I think you have to take Botany or horticulture, and then you learn how to key out plants by family or genus.
I took a biology class that devoted part of the class to plant ID, but it focused on CA natives with a leaning towards conifers...how boring!
