I know onces folks wake up from a higher zone then us, the seeds will be goners.

This is a super easy tree to grow from seed and it does well in a greenhouse. Mine even came back from the lower trunk after it froze during the power outage.

I would love to try them! I am in zone 7 but will grow it in a container. The blooms are beautiful! Good thing I haven't gone to bed yet. I have been sowing brug, banana seeds & others that I got for 99 cents a packet along with transplanting other seedlings. I have just been a sowing fool lately.

So the three takers are Joyce, Barb and Siam. Like Karyn said, they are super easy from seed so you all will probably end up with several plants that you can then share with friends and family.

Karyn, how well does yours bloom in a greenhouse? The ones I had in pots grew pretty slow so I was just wondering that.

Scott, Welcome! you'll find that the people on this forum are really cool to chat with. Everyone is very knowledgable about brugs and plenty of other plants in their collections. The Erythrina flowers aren't fragrant (bummer), but they are beautiful and once mature, the trees litteraly cover themselves in bloom spikes all summer and fall.

Elizabeth, you will be pleased to know that the Georgia Peach you sent me just opened its first bloom this morning! Here are the pictures.

Normally, I get a flush in June, then again in November, with ocassional flowers in between. Unfortunately, this summer, we limited the amount of water we are using in our yard to cope with our ongoing, neverending drought of a climate. The brugs weren't too happy about that haha. Here they are with much damage from the sun and limited water. The only brug that i've had bloom so far this year is another NOID white that is shaded on the north side of the house. When cooler temperatures come around in October, they'll begin to put on some mass and will bloom in November. That fall show is always the better one anyway.

I am sorry to hear about the drought, it has been on our news, that all the way up the coast to washington state record high temps, I just hope the GP will have a great flush for you when you have cooler temps,

Elizabeth, those high temperatures are normal for us this time of year. It's record heat for coastal Oregon and Washington who rarely 100F. Our last rain was in April, and it probably won't rain until November. My brugs would be happy if only they had a substantial amount of water. That's the only difference this year for me: I'm being more water wise and helping to conserve our water so the brugs are going on the dry side.

Ryan, sorry, I don't have more seeds. They've all been claimed. I will probably have more later on in the year so keep checking back. I'll make sure to let you know if I do. They would grow well for you in Phoenix.

It took 4 or 5 years to reach blooming size. I didn't think it was particularly slow growing and it's a small tree anyway. Mine only got to a little over 5' before it froze.

Josh keep me in mind for a seed if you get another batch please. I would try it in the greenhouse.

I received your seeds in the mail today safe and sound. From what I have been reading it appears they need to be soaked for 12-24 hours. However, I can't find the depth to plant them. I also read they have a long taproot so I guess I had better plant them in a tall pot.

Hi Joyce I am growing a big cry baby right now..I wanted seeds to try Bonsai... I soaked my seed overnight and placed about a half inch down in soil.. They are kinda big seeds... My big tree is about 2 and half feet and I have it in a medium pot that you would grow a coleus plant in..(I cant think of its pot size) lol I hope this helps you..:)

Seeds are all snug in their pots after their soaking. Hope to see them sprout soon! I have them in the shade as it is in the 100s here and hope that won't be too hot for them to germinate.

Your welcome Joyce.. I went out there after you mentioned the long tap root and sure enough the root grew out of the pot and into the ground..lol I have to repot it today..Thank you for the info...

Joyce a good rule of thumb for planting most seeds is to put them to a depth twice the size of the seed. This doesn't hold true for everything but does cover the majority of seeds.
