I've seen coral trees on the web and thought their brilliant red clustered flowers were attractive enough to perhaps add one or two to the landscape here. They are an Americas tree and exist in the US Southeast mostly, but I believe they also exist in California and Arizona, correct?
However, after looking into these trees more, I found that some hedonist misfits pick the seeds because they contain an hallucinogen. Thus it would seem that these beautiful trees might well have restrictions on them.
So, the first question is ... 1) Are any of these trees legal in California? and 2) Is there a species which produces seed that does not have the quality that will entice a bunch of mindless blank screen social zombs to hang out on the lawn?
What's the status of Erythrina in California? It really is an attractive tree, but I don't want to have one if it comes with problems.
