Long time since I was last here.

Hi Folks,

Some of you might remember me, but I don't expect it. I haven't posted on this site in years as I have been struggling the post-2008 recession blues. They said go back to school and get a degree and so I did. I got (4) new degrees so far and am just one class, 4 units and a capstone from getting my Masters in Computer Science. Still suffering lack of work however.

I have been trying to be an Entrepreneur, but it isn't easy. Sheesh, why can't I just retire and just plant things in ground and give them water and sunshine? Because I'm not retirement age, not by a damn sight.

So I've created. I've created web properties, not plants from seeds, but web applications from my own inspirational and intellectual seeds. I've just published no less than four business, sports, real estate and social networking portal web properties and more is on the way. I have a total of seven now and they allow blogging, galleries, developing contacts and leads, international business galleries that support not just images, but also videos, audios and documents for things like annual reports, brochures, flyers, technical briefs and so on. The sites are simple interfaces with a lot of beefy features. Sorry, no garden portal, although I've thought about it. My next portal will be career and staffing related, but just a simple job and resume board.

Life was so simple when I was free to garden. But I haven't had dirt under my fingernails in so long a time that I can't even remember how to germinate a palm seed.

Anyway, Hello. I just did midterms and finished updating my web properties and have a moment to breathe and reminisce.

I remember you too. There are all sorts of ways to get 'dirt under your nails' and I'd say you've been doing just that. I wish you well and hope you'll stop by again.

Paul - look what they have on the Violet Gallery site. IMHO - terrarium usually has 100% humidity - and Saintpaulias like it someway less - so you will have the problem with Powdery Mildew, Botrytis - mostly affecting blossoms. I am thinking that there are other miniature gesneriads that will benefit from terrarium conditions - Episcia "Silver Sky" is a true mini - and variegated Episcias - even they are not minis - they are so slow growing and attractive - they will be a plus - Pink Smoke, Unpredictable Valley etc. Miniature Gesnerias - will be happy and continue blooming all the time with bright orange flowers - Gesneria cunefolia is very easy and it stays compact. Nautilocalyx pemphidius is small and very interesting with these bullate leaves. Violetbarn.com is a good source for terrariums - with mini gessies and other mini plants appropriate for terrarium. Thanks to all for the nice replies, We love to share our birds and wish all of you a prompt and lovely Spring. :) Callalilykris - Thank you for your kind words. We're glad you like the photos. Yes, we do spend a lot of time with our birds... many hours daily, everyday. Over time many different species of birds have become regulars here. Several individual birds and families of birds have made our yard their habitat... and this habitat includes US as well as the food and water we provide. They are largely accustomed to our presence now and approach quite close and boldly without our having to hide ourselves. So we do gets lots of closeup photo opportunities. Erica, I think they did...well, not all of them. One woman was married three times and the first two were bad, last one, she just didn't love him and I guess married for the wrong reasons. The others were married one time, for a long time and found out they were being cheated on. Had a lying cheating husband too but I guess I'm over it now because I'm willing to try again. Not that I have any prospects. In fact,the only men who even look at me anymore are my elderly patients. LOL! Bunnyman, at least you've gone out with the opposite sex! I haven't even done that.

What a bummer about the hand... And yes you have been missed. I have been 1 degree above freezing here and I consider myself having a Californian winter. The aloes are loving it outside, blooming away, never being protected.. It is dry here too. Strange for an El Niño winter.
