Thanks, Nancy, but in my area those stores only carry the large pine bark nuggets not the mini or shredded. Maybe it's a Florida thing. I can only find it at nurseries or places that sell only mulch, and only by the yard.

Jollyrd, your storage doesn't have to have as short a life span as you are thinking. It does take a little planning ahead though. For example, if you want hooks that your kids can hang their coats on, and you want to use those hooks for as long as possible, then maybe you hang them a little higher than you would ordinarily do so. That way the hooks aren't too low in two years. The kids maybe have to use a step stool for a year or two. And don't choose babyish-looking or cartoon-themed hooks that the kids will outgrow in no time. Just get plain, ordinary hooks. OR You can plan an alternative future use for the hooks. They will be used for coats for the kids now, but sports equipment when they get older. You can then install new hooks up higher, and hang a net bag for baseballs and tennis balls, etc.

Such laminated particle-board cabinets might look sturdy but they aren't. The laminate is easily chipped and the drawer rollers don't tolerate a lot of abuse, but how much use will they be receiving in a closet? For me, the Closet Maid units have held-up nicely and they provide a tidy appearance for little cost. The system sold at Target offers the same wide range of storage options. Try them and toss or donate them if they don't suit.

Well, I think that would depend on how far in advance you want to make the jam. If you want to make several batches and put it in a jar without processing it, and you do that weekly, I'm sure it won't spoil before the week is up. Jam lasts for a couple of weeks in my fridge when I have jars that don't seal, or jars that I've opened and not consumed all of, and selling it as a fresh product rather than a preserved product might be a possibility. However, if you want to make the jam and keep it for longer periods of time, I think your option is to sell them 4 pints instead. Plus, since they are a restaurant, you might want to check on state regulations as to what you can supply them with and whether it can be prepared outside their commercial kitchen. Here in Michigan the cottage food law would let me sell jam to you, as long as it contains information on the label that it was prepared in a home kitchen which has not been inspected, and I can keep selling it to you until I make $30,000, but I can't sell it to a restaurant unless I make it in an inspected kitchen and I can't make more than $30,000 per year. Laws vary from state to state, as I'm sure you know, and selling to individuals is different than selling to restaurants. I hope you sell them a zillion dollars worth of jam! I've had your jam and it's delicious, I'm not surprised the restaurant wants lots of it. Annie
