Now that you say that, it does make sense. The first one was labelled Jasmine, and I was told that she would bring a jasmine, so I was confused when I saw the label on the first one. I did some research and the second does somewhat resemble an asian jasmine, hardy to zone 9 or 10. Apparently it likes moist soil, and sun. I would imagine it would drop its leaves when it is brought indoors for the winter and then grow new ones,- something like my white mandevilla.

Now to find out for sure what the first is....

I dont' think the second one is an asian jasmine. It could still be some form of jasmine but not the asian one I'm familiar with....

At first glance I thought you had a kind of hydrangea - but perhaps not.

In anycase, this mystery is a bit fun.......

I took a shot of my hydrangea today, and one of the mystery plant. I see them as different, but there are many forms of hydrangea. The first one, to me, resembles a creeping charlie, but I surely hope not. I think I would be wise to keep it in a pot and watch it, as it is already creeping by a few inches within the week.

Well, it resembles my peegee hydrangea - but then only time will tell. The peegees do not normally have that sheen. What you do have is a form of big leaf hydrangea - so it's not close.

Do post pics in a couple of weeks so perhaps we may have more clues. By then your plant would be more mature.

I have a mystery plant, maybe a hydgrangea? but not sure.

??? I'm new to gardening and don't know what most of these terms mean. Know of anything a little simpler ie dark green leaves, flower stalk, hairy leaves, perennials, 12 - 18" high, sun/pt. shade. Like I said simple terms. LOL I don't mind spending the time on line searching, but have found that most of the sites don't show the foliage at all and go by the flower colour.

I sure wish I had a digi camera. Guess I'm going to have to wait until it blooms, with my luck I'll be away when it does!

Okay, a month and a half after, one of the mystery plants has started to show what it is all about. The leaves seem to have changed somewhat. I enclose the original shot in June, and the shot I took today.

I can't wait to see this little guy open up his flowers! As soon as you get an i.d. on it, please post straight away Jroot (I peek alittle bit on christmas eve too because the suspense is just too much for me)

It's hard to believe that little thing actually turned into a vining flowering something or another!

this is Eccremocarpus scaber, a nice climber, not perennials in your zone but easily grown as an annual if you save seeds.
