wow. I've never seen filaments so dark on a belotii/alatocaerulea. even the one at logee's I photographed two years ago looked pale in comparison. how are you feeding it?

my inca sun's got a bunch of buds too :) I cut it way back so it would Y higher, and instead just started budding out practically from the stump! oh well.

You have some very exotic plants there, I can only guess at a few of them but they are all beautiful.

Regarding your stinky plant, I have stapelia gigantia (sp)/Carrion Plant, and it get a huge stinky flower. Can't wait til it blooms! LOL!!

That's my only calla left out of about 100. That one happened to be in a container, not the yard. Not a single calla survived the winter and they've been growing outside for several years.

Ria I was surprised at the intensity of the filaments as well. This is a P. allardii, not a belotii which is almost exactly the same. I lost my belotii last winter and replaced it with this which I actually like better.

Lucy at least my fingernails were reasonably clean in this pic. lol The red/green is actually the seeds of the Ochna serrulata (Mickey Mouse Plant). The flower petals are yellow and not terribly impressive but it's the seeds that are so cool. They'll turn black and the contrast with the red makes it look like Mickey Mouse. It's very popular with Vietnamese people. I grew that one from seed and it took about 6 years to bloom. It's incredibly slow growing. I planted some seeds a couple weeks ago and will let you know if any germinate.

I love stapelias and have several varieties. They aren't nearly as stinky as the Dracunculus vulgaris although maybe if they were as big they would be. Do you ever get seed pods on your stapelias? I've grown some from seed given to me but none of my plants have ever produced a seed pod.

Those are all just wonderful. I'm enjoying spring blooms now too, since the brugs are all taking their time getting going in the sun again. Did I say sun? I meant outdoors, since all we've had is rain lately. I'm so depressed! I sent out with my coffee one morning and called my husband out to identify that thing in the sky that was making me squint - forgot what sun looked like!
