OT) POTD : Just look at the rocks I dug out

Good morning everyone.

I am so thrilled to see so many new folks stop by the forum.

Needless to say I miss a LOT that can not stop by.

Today I just want to show you the beautiful rocks I found when I made this new flowerbed.

It is the 3 brownish looking ones. I was going to use them for the front flowerbed to use as edging. But then I thought that they are perfect for there to hopefully keep the dirt to be washed away when it pours like crazy and we have a wild river run down the yard.

Now mind you, the rocks came out of that flowerbed and only from HALF of it lol.

My goal for today is mowing the lawn...IF I can get that darn thing to start. Would not yesterday :-(

Luckily I do not need mowing lessons rofl So I can just go ahead and mow when it starts.

It is going to be a COOL day. Below 90 F. So I hope to start working on the next project. Building some sort of retainer wall that keeps the water out and floods the one part of the yard because all of it comes running in from the driveway and the neighbors yard. Years ago when they moved in, he was a big gardener. Vegetables only though. But he build the land UP. So all the water that usually runs in HIS yard...comes back into mine and his sewer overflows. So BIG problem I got to fix.

Take it easy everyone. I am working hard enough for at least ten of us lol So it feels at times.

I need PEDRO!!!!

Hey Lucy,

I have dug up my share of rocks too! They surely do come in handy at times.

I feel for you getting to enjoy the neighbors sewer. Just got rid of that problem myself. Didn't run on my side mind you however, the smell would knock you down! Glad our lots are very large! They finally had new field lines installed about 2 weeks ago.

I got maybe half of my grass mowed yesterday and the storm came. It is suppose to rain again today too. I will try to mow some more after it dries up a little this morning. Maybe I can get a little more down. At least finish where people can see. haha I will just have to walk through the tall wet grass to work on my plants. When you find that garden helper send him on over to me. : )

Good morning Lucy. No hangover here! But sure have a headache! Was planning on a quit night at home. Setting outside by the fire with DH. Ending up spending the night in the ER with HB having chest pain. Said they thought it was form stress but wanted him to stay. But the hard head checked himself out! He is going to follow up with his heart Dr. Anyway, hope your new years eve was better. Keep me and him in your prayers. I sure hope the worst is over and we have a better year ahead. Mom should be coming home this week. Thanks for the prayers. She is doing so much better. Up walking around, eating and all. Still needs a little walk on the stairs. But getting there. She is sure ready to come home. ANYWAY! Happy New Year to all. Please kept My family and me in your prayers for a good year to come. Love and hugs Dorothy

I love the baby squirrel. We used to have a little pet flying squirrel at school and it was a hoot. Lucy you and Kylie keep those tarantulas at your houses. I picked up a rock at her house and found one. Nearly crapped my pants. I might have one too. There was a small snake pulled into a hole in the ground by something and it was dead with its tail sticking out of the hole. Spiders and snakes at once are enough to give me a heart attack.

Siam I know, cause Hubby will not be after I get back and they are dead rofl. Just kidding. I do my best every day and with the heat increasing...it is even hard for me to keep em all happy. Maddy and I sure will have a great time. I wish I lived closer to the other 2 grandkids. But not complaining. Pam my neighbors are all sickly and up there in age. I mean really up there. You know, like a little boy says to mommy at the store...look mom, this lady is REALLY old. Well...I guess through out life....when you look at someone who is a LOT OLDER....you just can not help yourself lol I like this Lantana too. Have a few other colors. But for Amadeus' resting place I found a white one at Lowes and not a plain purple one that I have already. But purple with pinkish white blooms also. Lucy

From reading the responses...I better go learn a bit more about Rock Roses. This one has very nice branching! I sure hope it will not die :-( Especially since I moved it to a new location yesterday. Cross my fingers..hope it not to die lol This morning it was hilarious! It sprinkled and I was watering. Glad I continued because it really were only a few sprinkles. Not even enough to cool me off. You want to come dig the rocks out of my yard? You could line all your gardens! lol All we have are rocks and hard red clay. I like the way they look around the garden but honestly wouldn't count on them to help that much with erosion unless you pack the spaces in between the rocks with gravel and sand.

When we were first preparing the fields at the farm the tractor was turning over freaking giant rocks and it was a PITA to remove them. Rolando refuses to work in the field and we only have part time help when we're cutting flowers so it was Bruce, Ray and I. We lasted a few hours and said $@%* this. lol We found some neighborhood kids and paid them per rock to remove them from the field. It worked out great. I love child labor : )

Free rocks are great! I'm mowing today too. Y'all stay hydrated out there in the heat!

Lucy I love your rock bed... I wish we had those brown ones here... I call farmer next door when I need rocks...I go out to the field and pick pick pick.... Free rocks..:)

Oh trust me everyone...if I have the strength to dig...I have LOTS of rocks to edge all my beds with it lol.

Dug out a lot more today. Just because when you go over with the lawn mower, they stick out SO far that I have damaged the blade so often already, that I HAVE to do something about this.
