I think your plants need more light.

Well one ID down. What's haworthia attenuata light requirements? I did a quick web search and came up with bright or low in different places.

The only natural light I have is from drafty East facing windows, would those be enough, or should I move it closer to the artificial light I'm growing the jades under?

I'm afraid I cant help much w/lighting questions as I am in Texas (no dearth of sun here!) AND I don't grow anything indoors. I can tell you that if all these plants are receiving is diffuse light from an east facing window...you have pegged your problem. I'm sure lots of folks here can advise you on how to get more lighting for your indoor plants. My first thought would be a *grow light* hung above them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help -

ps - outside h. attenuata is a morning sun/afternoon shade plant...indoors it would need more light.

Tho' Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) is a succulent, they like a lot of water, more than you think they would. I grow a number of these, I give them the best light I have (west windows), ample water (til it flows out the bottom, I do mine once a week) & fertilizer May thru Oct. (several of mine bloom a couple of times a year, once stays in bloom almost all year). It's characteristic of them to have most of their leaves up top, but yours should also have some along the stems. As you step up light & water, it should get leavier.

The unknown plant is a Haworthia (can't say which), it's sort of closed up I'm guessing due to lack of water, water it more, it should green up a bit (rather than the gray/green it is now).

The new plants are another Haworthia, a common one, fasciata or attentuata maybe, check some picture sites for IDs. Haworthias do not want strong light, they pefer medium light, I'd say yours are fine w/ that. I grow my Haworthias on the outer edges of my windowsills, they don't need the strongest light & some actually prefer it on the shadier side.

The last plant is a cactus (I don't grow any so can't say which), that fake straw flower on top should be removed, it's glued on, not sure how to take it off. I didn't look at the Jades.

The Tiger Aloe grows like that, there's nothing wrong w/ it, but yes, could use more light. I might even re-pot that a bit smaller.

That Aloe that's spreading out from the center, needs something, if it were mine I'd cut them all off an inch below the leaves & pot them in DRY soil to re-root them. They're not going to recover from that, their lower stems aren't going to leaf out again, might as well re-root them.

All your plants look far too dry, also the mix looks too hard. What are you using for dirt? I'd start over w/ fresh cactus & succulent mix, w/ abt 30-40% perlite added for fast drainage. This way when you water, they'll be able to drink & then it'll drain fast. I suspect your mix is so hard that they're not able to drink much no matter how much you water, tho' suspect you're watering too little.

You might try reading around on the Web to learn the care for these plants individually. In my opinion, if you only have east windows, focus on Haworthias & Gasterias, I'd forget abt the Aloes altogether, you simply don't have enough light, it'll always be a struggle for them.

More Water, More Light then...

Any idea how much artificial light would be needed to keep them looking at least healthy? I've got strip lights all over from starting seedlings.

I pulled up the unlabeled haworthia and found it had a good inch of unused soil below any roots so dug around for a shorter pot and repotted it. That should make it easier for it to get the water I've been giving it.

They were all potted up in "Cactus" Soil which until recently I assumed was what you should pot cactus and succulents in. The one I repotted I mixed a generous portion of perlite into the cactus soil. I figured commercial cactus soil is better than the african violet mix I have ...

I don't use artificial light, so I'm sorry but I can't speak abt it, as I know nothing abt it. I don't think it's enough for Aloes tho', just my impression. Maybe try a separate post asking if any folks here grow Aloes w/ artificial light.

C&S mix w/ perlite sounds good to me, far better for them than AV mix I'd guess. If the mix lists ingredients, check to see if it has peat in it, if it does & you can find some w/out it, that might be even better.

When you water, pls. try watering enough so that it runs out the bottom, give it a few minutes (around 20 or so) then dump out any remaining water.

I'm guessing the repotted Haworthia should get happier in its new, shallower pot. Hoping it helps!

The others are recovering as well, but this one was quite dramatic. All I did was repot it in better soil and water it regularly.

Incredible! That looks like a before and after picture for a commercial for some special fertilizer! Great job!

Your above Haw looks like a retusa. This one will take full sun outside (start in the shade outside first, then morning sun). Haworthias are best grown in spring and fall, with a break in the summer (shade and drier then) and winter (sunny window inside, and cut way back on watering for a couple of months).
