i did just that :). so for 2 days now they are by the window. it's a corner west-north, very bright light. no sun since we have snow/rain for most of the week. the next question: how do i water? they are in last year pots: deep and narrow to accommodate the long roots(6" wide on top, 4" at the bottom and about 10" high). i gave them some water, but sparingly first, then after 2 days gave a little more. i should have good roots there, based on other years - so they should be taking up water. but i usually don't start watering well until after a month of potting up bare bulbs (waiting for new roots to develop). but i have blooms pushing out now - don't they need water? how much? my medium drains very well, has a lot of orchid bark and perlite too. and since the pots are deep - am thinking that just a little water will go a long way. however, they were not watered since nov, so should be very dry. and the bark is hard to rewater when it's bone dry. my temps are on the cooler side for now - 60-62F nite, 62-65F day. here's a pic of the whole set: 6 bulbs.

I'm not the best at this but I'll try to help. The Maurelli if kept as a house plant should have had it's leaves left on but too late for that. It should live. The window is large and will provide enough light to keep it alive. It might start to look cranky by end of winter but it will be full height and ready to go in spring. If your garage will stay in the 45-50 degree range then you can cold store either/both in the garage. Many will cut the leaves like you have and pull them up for cold storage. If the roots go too dry the plant may die back. Last year I cleared all dirt and "repotted" them in pine bark. Kept in a 60 degree basement and wetted twice they came through with not too much wilting and dieback. At a colder temp I could have worried less about water and they would have had a better dormancy.

tbean, you write that "most of them (fruits) dropped off for some reason." It is totally normal that the tree discarded many of the new small fruits. A citrus tree will retain only the amount of fruit that it is capable of bring to maturity. If every flower on a citrus tree produced fruit, and if every fruit stayed attached to the tree, a citrus tree would be crushed under its own weight. Generally, only 1 to 3 percent of the total amount of flowers that a citrus tree produces, will ever produce fruit that remains attached to the tree until maturity. - Silica

Leaves produce food for the plant via photosynthesis. If you cut out those two leaves that's a lot of leaf surface that will stop supplying the plant. It does have plenty of other healthy leaves so it probably won't make too big a difference. The plant will probably try to replace those leaves with something similar. If you keep removing large leaves like those then over time the plant will begin to diminish. So it's up to you what you want to achieve by doing it.
