curassavica seed coming out my ears!

Please help me find gardens for these! I've been collecting pods per my earlier post, have mailed out a dozen or so, but now I'm inundated! Anyone wanting these please drop me a note (and hopefully a SASE) and I'll send a bunch! I hate to think of these going to waste! Susan, do you still want enough to share????

Oh, yes, I surely do Carol. I've been so busy of late, trying to get my milkweeds planted! Your seeds will keep for at least a year, though, in case you're wondering.

I'll send ya an e-mail. I got yours that you were going to be unavailable that one Saturday I think it was, but as soon as I can, I want to drive out and see your ranch and horses, and p/u seeds.

Carol, I would love to have some. Mine often bloom but do not have time to set pods before it freezes-or they are eaten down so bad that they never make it that far.

You have it too wet. Should be damp but not soggy. Put an extra layer of damp paper towels below them for reserve moisture instead of all wet on top. Germinating seeds need oxygen. You may also have to clean the seeds more in a tea strainer under hot running water, if they still feel slippery dip them in diluted liquid chlorine bleach 30 sec. Then wash to remove bleach. A Ball recipe or Annie's salsa will work just fine with any tomato variety. They're designed with sufficient acidity to cover lower-acid varieties or just natural variations in acidity due to ripeness/growing conditions. (I am assuming healthy tomatoes from healthy plants.) There are some few tomato varieties that are lower-acid. Jetstar comes to mind. But it has nothing to do with color or whether they're heirlooms or not. Most of the tomatoes people THINK are low-acid just have more sugar so they're sweeter. A yellow tomato is no more likely to be low-acid than a red one. Carol

Any time, Susan... I don't have any plans at this point (other than catching up on my mowing now that things are drying out a bit).

One wonderful thing about things drying out is that the butterflies are EVERYWHERE! Three monarchs on the curassavica when I was harvesting again today, along with both a dark and light swallowtail and several others. They're snitching nectar from the hummer feeders, visiting the orchids that live in the trees, and the wildflower meadow is FULL of them.... I can't even begin to identify all that I'm seeing.

But I did have to dispatch a rather large black widow that had spun a web in one of my tubbed jasmines. I'll put up with a lot, but not widows or fiddle-backs.

Hi Carol,

I would love some curvassica. I planted a bunch from mrs. tdogmom earlier this year that are doing great so far, but i'd still like to plant some more in case I get hit later in the season, I haven't seen one monarch yet! Feel free to check my list too if you see something you like we could trade, or please send me your addy and i'll mail out sasbe.
